The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) is seeking a self-motivated, mission-driven Coordinator of Workforce Education to lead the development and delivery of professional education programs through Employer U. This role supports regional employers, working professionals, and UMPI alumni by creating workshops, certifications, and micro-credentials that promote upskilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business and finance, along with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. They will collaborate with faculty, staff, employers, and community partners to identify workforce needs and deliver responsive, real-world learning opportunities in both in-person and virtual settings.

This position involves both on- and off-campus work and requires the ability to travel locally, with the potential for statewide and regional travel depending on program needs and opportunities. Work schedule, location, and travel expectations will be determined in coordination with the supervisor.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong decision-making, data analysis, creative, and problem-solving abilities, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to adopt emerging tools, including AI. Budget management and professionalism in representing the University are also key aspects of this role.

The salary range for this full time, two-year fixed length position is $50,000-$60,000, depending on skills and experience.  The university will take into consideration the salary of current UMS employees in cases of transfer or promotion, based on skills and experience.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, workforce development, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 (three) years of professional experience, particularly in program coordination, adult learning, workforce training, or community education. 
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong organizational, relationship-building, and communication skills. 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and engage diverse stakeholders, including employers, community members, and alumni. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field. 
  • Familiarity with continuing education for adult learners or alumni populations. 
  • Experience using LMS platforms and delivering digital learning content. 
  • Knowledge of workforce development ecosystems and professional credentialing.
