- Creates the training strategy, structure and curriculum that supports an innovative organization-wide training program that continually improves the capacity and quality of the Arthritis Foundation mangers and volunteers and supports leadership excellence.
- Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with senior leaders, managers, instructors, staff, and volunteers.
- Uses Instructional Design expertise to develop programs, materials and job aids designed to meet identified instructional/informational needs, including training for new staff and refresher training for experienced staff and volunteers.
- Provides leadership and oversight for community building programs including “lunch & learns.”
- Delivers training content, either personally or by leveraging internal and external resources, that transfers skills and knowledge in a practical and compelling manner.
- Develops a program delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations that work for the participants.
- Acts as a coach and facilitator to learner groups and individuals in accordance with training programs’ strategies and objectives.
- Manages and coordinates the onboarding process of staff and volunteers. Partners with the Director, Talent Management and the Sr. Director, Volunteer Engagement to ensure the onboarding program is regularly reviewed and updated and there is a tight coordination between new employee and volunteer onboarding and orientation.
- Provides management and leadership Development by creating an “Arthritis Foundation Management 101” program to educate managers on the core AF processes of EOS, performance management, talent management, career development, compensation philosophy, etc.
- Leads the development and implementation of learning initiatives in support of diversity and inclusion as well as other organizational values and priorities. Serves as a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion by creating forums, educational events, affinity programs, mentoring programs, etc. which facilitate an open and free Arthritis Foundation culture of belongingness, respect, inclusion, and equality.
- Partners with AF leaders to manage an enterprise-wide learning management system and other technology that supports learning and development.
- Collaborates with functional areas and organizational leaders to assess ongoing and future training and developmental needs as well as effectiveness of established programs.
- Leads effective individual development, mentorship and succession planning processes to ensure management and professional readiness to meet the growth plans of the Foundation.
- Encourages cross-training for volunteer and employee development with a focus on emerging leaders’ development to build our talent pipeline.
- Develops key performance indicators to gauge training effectiveness and revises training programs, materials and instructional aids as required to ensure achievement of program objectives by individual learners and the Plan as a whole.
- In consultation with the SVP, People Operations & Facilities Management and Sr. Director, People Operations, develops performance management tools and practices, including, but not limited to, performance evaluations, collaborative action plans, etc.
- Develops and maintains organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
- Serves as a resource to and an expert for all internal and external stakeholders in providing innovative and effective learning and development solutions. Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the People Operations team.
- Drives the use of the latest learning technology systems and tools (i.e. VR, AR, AI, chat bots, social, adaptive, mobile, just-in-time initiatives) into the learning products roadmap.
