What is Lifebanc?
Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description:
This position is responsible for providing leadership to the family support department as well as supporting the strategic direction and goals of the organization. This position will hold the team responsible for obtaining the yearly KPI’s and metrics set by the organization. As part of the Lifebanc leadership team, this individual will actively foster a culture that is based on service, teamwork, integrity, commitment, innovation, and quality.
Essential Functions:
• Provides supervisory oversight to the Family Services Department.
• Manages and coaches the family services and clinical staff (as needed) in the approaches with the appropriate next of kin for organ, tissue and eye (O/T/E) donation.
• Participates with the health care team during end-of-life discussions with next of kin and/or significant others of potential and registered O/T/E if possible.
• Provides/seeks training to ensure staff is current on the required training for their roles quarterly.
• Ensures staff is providing informed authorization or disclosure to all donor families.
• Performs monthly audits of reports to monitor department and individual goals.
• Maintain the ability to conduct a comprehensive medical social history interview with the next of kin, significant others and/or healthcare professionals of potential organ and tissue donors in compliance with CMS, AATB, CMS regulations and Lifebanc policies and provided support to donor families during the donation and recovery process.
• Completes the electronic Donor Risk Assessment Interview per Lifebanc policies and standards.
• Completes accurate reporting and documentation during shift change to ensure donor families remain supported.
• Provides corrections/review/completion of donor charts.
• Provides coverage and support for donor families that remain on-site at the hospital during the donor case.
• Completes mandatory consent training on a quarterly basis.
• Collaborates with key hospital staff members in real-time on all active referrals and/or cases as needed.

• Responsible for the performance management, training, coaching and disciplinary feedback to the Family Services department.
• Conducts individual/departmental meetings with staff.
• Ensures that all departmental responsibilities are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Supervises the donor family outcome letters and completes quarterly audit to ensure AOPO compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a professional healthcare environment.
- Ability to initiate interpersonal interactions with hospital staff and develop ongoing positive relationships.
- Ability to assess situations and people and respond in a professional manner.
- Skilled in presenting information to various audiences in an engaging and professional manner.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
