Position: Human Resources Manager

 

Job Description:

 

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with business unit and human resources management in supporting the needs of the business and human resource's function. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: liaison to benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

 

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel
  • Responds timely to employee and manager employment related questions, concerns and needs
  • Partners with managers to develop and implement programs and procedures that promote positive employee relations
  • Implements personnel policies and procedures 
  • Serves as a coach to employees, supervisors and managers regarding employment matters
  • Supports in the design, implementation and administration of compensation and incentive plans
  • Serves as a liaison to the benefits administration department including communicating benefit information to employees 
  • Supports recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees
  • Supports managers and employees with professional development planning and internal career-pathing opportunities 
  • Performs employee relations investigations, documentation, and provides resolution recommendations
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals 
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continuous improvements department services 
  • Delivers employee and manager training – via webinar and classroom
  • Maintains confidential human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state regulations concerning employment, including workers compensation
  • Approximately 30% overnight travel by plane and car required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years HR business partner experience, with at least two in a warehouse/manufacturing space
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting formal employee relations investigations 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Driver’s License for travel purposes 
  • Proficient experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite-specifically Excel, Outlook and Word 
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills to correspond with candidates and employees at all organization levels
  • Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Working knowledge of employment law, regulations including workers compensation
  • Experience analyzing and summarizing data for decision making 
  • Experience implementing and supporting staffing, performance management, career development and award programs 

 

Skills:

  • Deep understanding of HR functions including employee relations, benefits, compensation, and compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills to address employee concerns and policy issues
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Skilled in managing multiple HR initiatives and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to guide and support employees and managers without direct supervisory authority
  • Competent in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving HR needs

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. 

Travel: 30% over night travel by car and plane required
