Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check-in and Check-out hotel guests in a confident, accurate, professional and friendly manner.
  • Greet all guests upon sight with a smile, eye contact and appropriate greeting (“good morning”, “good afternoon”).
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Provide gracious and professional service on the telephone.  Calls should be answered within 3 rings and always ensure complete and accurate information. 
  • Review arrivals noting special requests and block rooms as necessary. 
  • Make walk-in reservations based on availability and available walk-in rates.
  • Complete all items on the daily shift checklists.
  • Bucket Checks to be performed by each shift verifying 1. Guest Name 2. Guest Address 3. Room Rate 4. Date of Departure 5. # guests in room 6. Verify all contact information entered into Opera.
  • Ensure proper credit card procedures are followed at all times including guest signature on registration card.
  • Adhere to all cash procedures – including cashiering end of shift reports and balancing of bank at end of shift.
  • Advice guests promptly of any messages, faxes, mail, etc. received for them.
  • Communicate services and amenities of the hotel to the guests.
  • Take, record and relay messages to guests and co-workers accurately and completely.
  • Follow the TSG policies for computers and all technology, including no personal email on computers, no unauthorized websites, etc.
  • Accept and record wake-up call requests.
  • Communicate pertinent guest information to designated departments and personnel.
  • Keep accurate and complete logs in the front desk log and spreadsheets, maintenance and repair log and glitch log.  Send out the maintenance and glitch logs nightly to the designated department heads.
  • Meet at beginning and end of shift with oncoming and outgoing staff to review status on VIPs’, arrivals, departures, maintenance and special requests. 
  • Provide personalized concierge services – maintain an accurate knowledge of local restaurants, special events, services and activities available.
  • Keep the front desk and lobby areas clean and well organized.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate knowledge of:
    • All hotel features/services/hours of operation
    • All room types, rates, packages and promotions
    • Daily house count and expected arrivals/departures
    • Room availability status for any given day
    • Daily Walk-in rates
  • Prepare all next day guest arrival room keys, registration cards and resort charge cards.
  • Provide information and assist guest concerning; restaurants, theaters/ musical productions, airlines, automobile rental, transportation directions, office services, beauty/barber establishments, and other appropriate services, and render reservations for such.
  • Maintain current listing of local and area attractions, special events and activities.
  • Maintain a listing of local transportation guides, churches, sport arenas, etc.
  • Provide hours of operations for all restaurants, lounges and shops within the hotel.
  • Provide information, maps and directions as required.
  • Work with skier services to pick up lift tickets for next day arrivals.
  • Prepare reports for other departments (restaurant and housekeeping).
  • Support TSG’s vision, mission, and goals.
  • Adhere to all TSG policies and procedures listed in the employee handbook.
  • Understand and apply the Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:        

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications:                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner. Education and/or Experience:                   

High School education or GED and at least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.

 

Language Skills:                   

Ability to effectively present information and communicate (read, speak and write) to managers, co-workers, guests and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:                   

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:                   

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Office.  Hotel reservations system knowledge a plus. 

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand for considerable amounts of time.
  • Knowledge of Telluride Ski & Golf and the Telluride region.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
  • Able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.
  • Advanced knowledge of resort operations.

The pay rate for this position is $21.00/hr.
