Green & Gold - Campus Security Specialist
SALARY: Salary $55,000.00 - 67,000.00

The
Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program (G&G CAP) was established to create
employment opportunities for Veterans, Gold Star families, and Active-Duty spouses
within the U.S. House of Representatives. These positions provide Aides with the experience and exposure
necessary to broaden their career opportunities. This position is assigned within a House Officer and will serve in
Washington, DC. These are
two-year, paid, full-time employment opportunities.
This
position supports security-related projects across the Capitol Campus. The role
involves working closely with U.S. Capitol Police, Architect of the Capitol,
and other partners to help review and track projects. Responsibilities include
attending meetings, taking notes, helping prepare agendas, and keeping records
up to date. The ideal candidate should be organized, a good communicator, and
comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Basic
knowledge of project management tools and a willingness to learn are important
for success in this role.
This position is part of the Police Services/Law Enforcement
Division, Office of the Sergeant at Arms (SAA), U.S. House of Representatives
(House). The Division of Police Services/Law Enforcement (PS/LE) is the law
enforcement division within the Office of the Sergeant at Arms, U.S. House of
Representatives. The division coordinates with the United States Capitol Police
(USCP), the Senate Sergeant at Arms (SSA), and the Architect of the Capitol
(AOC) and other legislative branch entities to ensure the safety and security
of the Capitol complex, Members of Congress, Congressional staff and visitors.
Major Duties
Typical duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Liaison and Collaboration: Serves as a project
liaison between the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), United States Capitol
Police (USCP), Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA), and other Capitol campus
partners. Builds positive working relationships with Capitol campus
project managers and organizational staff from these entities.
- Stakeholder Advocacy: Acts as an advocate on behalf of Member offices to
ensure deconfliction of Capitol campus projects and Member, staff, and
office operations.
- Project Scope Management: Assists in defining
project scopes, boundaries, and timelines.
- Timeline and Scheduling: Supports and develops
internal project schedules, tracking milestones, and identifying
deconfliction priorities.
- Status Reporting: Assists in the preparation of project status reports,
highlighting progress, challenges, and potential roadblocks.
- Documentation: Maintains accurate project documentation, including
meeting minutes, project work plans, reports, and data entry. Ensures all
project documentation and associated data are properly archived in the
Campus Security repository structure.
- Lessons Learned: Assists in developing after-action reviews and
participates in post-project reviews internally and with campus partners
to identify lessons learned for future projects.
- Security Awareness: Applies a basic understanding of common security
threats, vulnerabilities, and controls.
- Technology Utilization: Utilizes project
management technology such as Microsoft Project, ClickUp, Asana, MS Teams,
and Outlook to effectively assist the Campus Security team.
- Support to Leadership: Supports the Deputy
Assistant Sergeant at Arms, Campus Security, and the Program Manager,
Campus Security Operations, to further the goals of the SAA Office.
Provides updates to Sergeant at Arms leadership as needed.
- House
Coordination Center: Maintains proficiency in matters related to the House
Coordination Center and serves as a Police Services liaison, as needed, to
ensure the timely delivery of information to SAA leadership during
critical events.
- Campus
Security Administrative Programs: Assist in managing the campus
security programs offered to the congressional community on campus.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Veterans:
- Honorably discharged;
- Released from active duty within the last six years
- Pay grades at
or below E-5/O-3/W-2
- Veterans promoted to the pay grades of E-6/O-4/W-3 WITHIN 6-MONTHS OF SEPARATION from active duty may be eligible if they meet ALL other requirements.
- Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
Gold Star Families:
- A surviving spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, or sibling/step-sibling of a veteran who died:
- In the line of duty while serving in the Armed Forces; or
- from a service-connected disability.
Active-Duty Spouses:
- Must be the spouse of an Active-Duty service member. Active-Duty service members work for the military full-time and are subject to permanent change of station or permanent change of assignment orders upon completion of each tour of duty.
- Those subject to Title X mobilization are not eligible
Experience and/or Education Requirements:
Associate degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.
Qualifications:
Candidates will work with the Communications team to deliver positive, empathetic and professional customer service experiences, and will understand the role and importance of metrics and organizational change. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position is in an office setting that is adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Normal safety precautions apply. The work involves carrying light items such as books, paper and small office equipment. The incumbent must be able to meet minimum physical requirements (lifting, bending, crouching, standing, etc.).
