The Engineering & Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects, meeting customer demands, achieving overall project timing, and meeting financial targets. Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of projects within area of assigned responsibility. Must be organized and have great attention to detail.  Must also ensure that all work orders are completed on time and according to quality standards and that spending on supplies used to complete maintenance remains within budgetary constraints.

Essential Functions

  • Able to read and interpret documents such as job instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Interfaces with the customer to coordinate all aspects, including APQP, of projects such as technical studies, mold design, quotations for any scope change, preparation of specifications and technical plans, project timing, packaging development and mold tryout.
  • Reviews mold design and Mold Flow studies for compliance with engineering principles. Company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Prepares documents required for APQP (Change Orders, Request for Shipment, Request for Tryout and Mold Performance evaluation).
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and other associates within the company.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use computer systems.  Windows based and CAD programs.
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Proficient in maintaining injection molding equipment in optimal operating condition, identifying and resolving problems, performing /tracking preventative and predictive maintenance activities effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to support the manufacturing personnel as needed, trouble shooting, repairing and training in the proper use of equipment.
  • Works with maintenance staff to ensure that maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner and that proper follow-through is done.
  • Responsible for assuring proper inventory levels of required replacement parts.
  • Must follow all internal and manufacturer maintenance procedures, assist in process improvement changes.
  • Schedules maintenance employees according to forecasted workloads.
  • Follow all OSH and safety rules and regulations.
  • Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Comply with all Environmental Requirements and Policies
  • Report all Environmental incidents immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience
 

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) in a related area preferred; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in Project/Development Engineering required.
  • Able to analyze and synthesize complex concepts in technology and scientific systems.
  • Communication skills, written and oral.
  • Effective problem solving skills.
  • CAD skills adequate to support the evaluation of part and tool design.
  • Minimum 8 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in injections molding required.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
