Position Summary:

The Outreach Specialist plays a key role in designing, organizing, and executing outreach activities, including informational sessions and promotional events. This individual provides essential support in program implementation and ensures effective engagement across all outreach functions. In collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders, the Outreach Specialist helps align processes and procedures to drive successful outreach outcomes and program visibility

  • Understand and implement Sales Process, including but not limited to;
    • Making outbound calls to new and existing customers to meet assigned energy saving targets.
    • Developing and presenting program presentations to spur project activity.
    • Provide timely and effective responses to customer and contractors inquiries across all communication channels.
    • Maximize opportunities at every stage to successfully close projects.
  • Recruit, train, educate and cultivate relationships with contractors and customers to encourage effective marketing of programs.
  • Maintain Program Expertise Stay informed on program “Best Practices,” offerings, and customer-focused benefits to ensure accurate representation and promotion.
  • Support Outreach Planning and Execution Assist in the creation, monitoring, and adjustment of outreach work plans to ensure alignment with strategic goal
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of program’s strategic outreach direction and production levels to deliver established goals.
  • Complete “search and discovery” work where the answers are not clear.
  • Drive Contractor Engagement Initiate cold calls and build participation from new suppliers and contractors within target markets.
  • Lead Event Coordination & Promotion Plan and execute outreach events and program presentations, ensuring high-impact and professional delivery.
  • Research the markets, accumulate data on businesses, and identify the key allies to be targeted on behalf of the programs.
  • Identify improvement barriers and report information to Program Manager and Contractor Manager.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project-based activity reports and track progress towards program goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of specific energy efficiency programs in a “flex” capacity, according to defined budgets and energy savings targets.
  • Collaborate Across Teams Work effectively with non-outreach-focused team members to ensure cohesive program delivery.
  • Contribute Respectfully Share ideas while honoring the experience and knowledge of others. Demonstrate openness to guidance from peers and team leads.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the electric or natural gas utility industry, sales, commercial and industrial lighting, or conservation.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and to collaborate on continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and employees.
  • Must be able to handle a wide variety of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to identify and resolve project application issues with customers and trade allies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, or a Technical school degree combined with demonstrated experience in the electric/gas utility field.

 

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimum 50% travel

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Noise level is typically moderate
  • Team Member could be exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles and risk of potential shock
