About the Department

  • Hours of Work: Typically, Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Classified 7 level position. Starting wage range: $22.49 - $25.41/hourly, depending upon experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include

The Housing Occupancy and Retention Specialist will play a vital role in promoting and enhancing on-campus housing. This position collaborates closely with Enrollment Services and Marketing to develop and implement strategies that increase student occupancy and retention in campus housing.  Responsibilities include growing the out-of-area (outside commuting distance) applicant pool, increasing yield of those students choosing LCCC, and improving on-campus resident retention. This requires substantial cooperation with other campus departments.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).

Develop and maintain recruitment efforts for the Residence Halls by implementing targeted and intentional communication strategies to increase the number of students attending Laramie County Community College to live in the Residence Halls.

  • Implement callback and email campaigns to demystify questions or concerns for prospective students to choose Residence Halls for their housing accommodations and help them complete the housing application process.
  • Provide real time information sharing by enhancing the Residence Hall social media presence.
  • Share information with current students, parents and prospective students by developing and maintaining a monthly newsletter.  
  • Develop and distribute marketing materials for prospective students by using data from the Institutional Research (IR) team.
  • Identify key recruitment events with Recruitment to speak with students about Laramie County Community College Residential Living using marketing materials.
Develop and maintain retention efforts for the Residence Halls by creating environments for students to engage with one another and campus partners to enhance graduation and or transfer rates.
  • Encourage returning students to reapply for the Residence Halls by developing a targeted callback and email campaign.
  • Foster community engagement by coordinating monthly Residence Hall events with Residential Living staff and campus partners.
  • Provide timely information by enhancing the Residence Halls’ social media presence.
  • Provide assistance to students in navigating the housing application process by developing and distributing marketing materials for students.
  • Share information with current students, parents and prospective students by developing and maintaining a monthly newsletter.  
Encourage local students to consider living on campus by developing and implementing strategies targeted at that population.

Identify relevant off-campus recruitment events to attend by collaborating with enrollment services.

Ensure housing application process is seamless by continuous evaluation of best practices and application feedback from current students.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional needs.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: 
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in business, event planning, marketing or related field of study from an institution accredited by one of the U.S. Department of Education approved institutional accrediting agencies OR three to five years relevant experience
  • One-year experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, or similar experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that provides the ability to be insured by the College’s insurance provider

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, event planning, marketing or related field of study from an institution accredited by one of the U.S. Department of Education approved institutional accrediting agencies
  • Three year’s experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, or similar experience
  • Experience in student housing and/or higher education
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that provides the ability to be insured by the College’s insurance provider
