Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a skilled Calypso QA Analyst to join our financial technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of Calypso platform implementations, upgrades, and migrations within capital markets operations. Your expertise will support successful project delivery, facilitate seamless system transitions, and uphold the organization’s commitment to operational excellence. This position plays a vital role in maintaining system stability, optimizing testing processes, and enhancing the overall quality of financial technology solutions.

Software Requirements

  • Required:
    • Calypso platform (version 16.1 and above)
    • Test automation tools (e.g., UFT, Selenium, RPA) or equivalent automation frameworks
    • Test management and defect tracking tools (ALM, JIRA, Confluence)
    • Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Visio, Word)
    • SQL and ETL tools for data validation and analysis
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of financial data management tools and industry-standard testing frameworks
    • Scripting proficiency for automation (e.g., Java, Python)
    • Additional test automation tools or frameworks

Overall Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test strategies and plans for Calypso-related projects, including upgrades and migrations from legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and developers, to understand project scope, business processes, and system dependencies.
  • Conduct detailed testing of Calypso modules such as Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Workflows, Reporting, Task Station, and Scheduled Tasks.
  • Validate system and data integration points, including multiple external platform interfaces and modules like Hedge Accounting and Collateral Management.
  • Identify, document, and track defects, ensuring timely resolution and quality delivery.
  • Support automation initiatives to improve testing efficiency and repeatability.
  • Mentor team members on QA best practices and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Provide regular status updates and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Technical Skills (By Category)

  • Programming Languages:
    • Required: Knowledge of scripting and automation frameworks; proficiency in SQL.
    • Preferred: Knowledge of Java, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Databases/Data Management:
    • Required: Complex SQL querying; experience with ETL processes.
    • Preferred: Knowledge of data modeling and data validation techniques.
  • Cloud Technologies:
    • Not mandatory but familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or similar) is a plus.
  • Frameworks and Libraries:
    • Experience with industry-standard test automation tools (UFT, Selenium, RPA).
    • Familiarity with Calypso modules and APIs for testing purposes.
  • Development Tools and Methodologies:
    • Proficiency with ALM, JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Office.
    • Experience working within Agile/SAFe methodologies.
  • Security Protocols:
    • Basic understanding of data security and compliance in banking/financial industry.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of QA experience within the financial services domain, particularly with Calypso platforms.
  • Extensive experience in Calypso project testing, including upgrades and migration from legacy systems.
  • Proven track record working with fixed income, derivatives, money markets, advances, LCs, and equity products within Calypso.
  • Experience with Calypso modules such as Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Workflows, and Collateral.
  • Exposure to Calypso Hedge Accounting and multiple platform integrations is highly desirable.
  • Domain expertise should include Front Office and Back Office operational processes.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute manual and automated test cases to validate system functionality and data.
  • Collaborate with project teams across daily stand-ups, planning, and review sessions to coordinate testing efforts.
  • Track and report defects utilizing JIRA or ALM; verify defect fixes and re-test as needed.
  • Develop automation scripts to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
  • Engage with business users to understand complex workflows and system behaviors.
  • Participate in release readiness activities, including regression testing and sign-off procedures.
  • Document testing artifacts, including test cases, execution reports, and defect logs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Professional certifications in QA or Financial systems testing are a plus.
  • Ongoing professional development in QA automation, financial technology, and related fields.
