GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to work in a fully remote capacity, supporting Ohio's Department of Children and Youth (DCY). This role offers the opportunity to lead enterprise-level Oracle database administration and optimization efforts in a complex, high-availability environment. Candidates must be located within the United States and available for Teams interviews.

As a Senior Oracle DBA, you will be responsible for leading and supporting all aspects of Oracle database administration, performance tuning, disaster recovery, upgrades, and security. This role involves hands-on management of Oracle RAC environments, Active Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and advanced backup and recovery solutions. You will collaborate with development teams and IT staff to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing database systems.
Responsibilities:Lead installation, configuration, upgrade, and support of Oracle RAC databases (19c and above), Oracle Enterprise Manager, and related technologies.
Assess database architecture and recommend improvements aligned with industry best practices.
Design and implement strategies for backup, recovery, performance tuning, and replication (including RMAN, Data Guard, and GoldenGate).
Configure and support Oracle ACFS snapshot cloning and standby/switchover environments.
Monitor and maintain database health, capacity, and availability across production and non-production environments.
Lead schema- and table-level data refreshes using Data Pump (EXPDP/IMPDP).
Provide proactive and reactive support for database issues, performance bottlenecks, and outages.
Document all environments, configurations, and processes.
Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and database design.
Support CI/CD database deployment processes and cloud-hosted database environments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
8+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
6+ years of experience setting up and configuring Oracle RAC (including at least 4 years in RAC environments).
8+ years of experience with RMAN backup and recovery (at least 2 years hands-on).
7+ years supporting the full software development lifecycle.
6+ years experience with Oracle ASM.
5+ years of experience using AIX 7.x or higher.
4+ years of experience with Oracle Data Guard (physical and logical standby).
2+ years of experience with Active Data Guard and Data Guard Broker.
8+ years experience in database performance and SQL tuning (at least 3 in RAC environments).
7+ years of experience performing database upgrades and patching (including Oracle RAC).
6+ years of experience scripting in AIX (Unix/Shell).
3+ years of experience in data modeling and database design.
3+ years of experience writing PL/SQL code.
5+ years of experience with ACFS snapshot cloning in RAC and standby environments.
9+ years of experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Suite, TOAD, SQL Developer, or similar tools.
Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, and the Office suite.
Preferred Experience
Experience managing databases in cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication.
Expertise with Oracle Advanced Security Options (TDE, Data Redaction, Unified Auditing).
Experience supporting both OLTP and Data Warehouse configurations.
Deep knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c features, including alerting and metric extensions.
Familiarity with CI/CD database automation pipelines.
