Role
This is an opportunity to join a growing and profitable business with a diverse and established team of sales professionals. The Regional Sales Manager will plan, direct, and execute the established sales plan to achieve maximum sales volume and market share in their respective territories. This position will also be responsible for managing, leading and working with our independent sales representatives, distributors, OEM’s and end users. The position will report to the Director of Sales and Marketing and ideally will live within the assigned territories - Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia or Florida.
The position requires connecting with people quickly in an outgoing, friendly manner. The successful candidate will have a sense of urgency, combined with getting work done in complete, accurate detail, with the ability to drive results. The candidate must have the ability to sell ideas to others, with the ability to train, teach, and motivate the sales representatives in their assigned territory. The successful candidate must also be able to work in a team environment and interact with all facets of the organization to make decisions that benefit the organization as a whole.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical and application support of all products to assist with the proper sales and support of the products with the overall objective of complete customer satisfaction
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, technology reviews, and strategically plan and lead efforts in new product development, product improvements, line extensions, and product road maps
- Collaborate on the development of marketing plans and promotional programs for existing products to include product development, pricing strategy, collateral creation, and brand management
- Develop and deliver product training and training materials for internal stakeholders, internal and external sales forces, and customers
- Manage the creation and maintenance of product manuals, catalogs, specification sheets, product bulletins, price pages, and any other collateral materials used in sales and promotion of products
- Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering to reduce costs and product lead times by assessing packaging, materials, vendors, stocking levels, or product designs for opportunities for improvements
- Actively participate in negotiations with key vendors for raw materials and finished goods to ensure alignment with the revenue, gross margin, and technology roadmap objectives of the business
- Review monthly financial performance and determine contributing factors to product line sales and profitability and offer solutions for detrimental sales or cost trends
- Serve as part of the management team and contribute to the successful planning and execution of the annual business plan as well as long-range strategic planning of the business
- Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline and/or ten (10) + years of direct work experience without formal education is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable industrial sales/marketing experience selling capital equipment.
- Experience managing a group of independent sales representative organizations a definite plus.
