The Database Architect is responsible for designing and managing resilient, scalable database systems and enabling advanced analytics capabilities across the organization. This role bridges on-premises Microsoft SQL Server environments with cloud-based tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Fabric, and Oxygen, while also supporting integration and automation initiatives. The architect ensures seamless data flow across systems, drives modernization, and supports enterprise-wide data-driven decision-making.Required Behaviors:

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in enterprise-level database architecture, administration, and data integration
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including clustering, consolidation, and performance optimization
- Experience with Power BI and Tableau for enterprise reporting and data visualization
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for automation
- Familiarity with middleware platforms like Boomi, and integration using RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL in production environments
- Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare data compliance standards
- Familiarity with data-sharing platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Oxygen
- Manage relationships with trust, honesty, respect, and integrity
- Ability to consistently provide world-class and excellent customer service
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in data engineering, Information Architecture, or related field, or a comparable combination of education and substantial hands-on experience
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, SQL Server, or Tableau
- Experience with healthcare data interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR)
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Oxygen, or similar data-sharing frameworks
- Experience deploying and maintaining cloud or hybrid data architectures
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Factory, or comparable cloud data governance platforms
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Architect and manage SQL Server infrastructure including clustering and high availability
- Lead integration of cloud analytics tools such as Tableau and Microsoft Fabric
- Develop scalable data models and ETL pipelines for both on-prem and cloud systems
- Enable advanced reporting using Power BI and Tableau with proper data governance
- Build and manage secure API connections across applications and platforms
- Support Oxygen-based data exchange workflows across clinical and administrative systems
- Optimize and consolidate legacy SQL databases for performance and cost efficiency
- Automate data management and reporting processes using PowerShell or Python
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business units to deliver insights
- Implement and enforce policies for data quality, access control, and retention
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies aligned with hospital IT strategy
- Maintain documentation of architecture, configurations, and processes
- Drive standardization of data integration and reporting across departments
- Act as a technical mentor and escalation point for complex database and integration issues
- Support business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies for data assets
- Performs additional responsibilities across teams as needed to support operational continuity, security posture, and cross-functional collaboration.

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Regularly on-site during scheduled shifts and quickly responsive, remote support when allowed or approved, occasional travel.
- Primarily office-based, frequent computer use; could involve long-term walking, standing, bending, or assisting with physical aspects of projects in clinical or administrative areas. Rounding during go-lives is common
- Possible lifting and carrying of IT hardware and materials up to fifty (50) pounds
- Participation in scheduled shift coverage and on-call support for emergencies, maintenance, and upgrades
