Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Senior System Engineer. Our mission supports the Government Corporate Management Services (CMS) by providing full life cycle support services through the sustainment, modernization, and transformation of the enterprise corporate applications. We are seeking a Senior System Engineer whose role is an even split — about 50% tester and 50% systems engineering — combining hands-on test execution (DT&E, acceptance, regression), Tier 1 production support, customer management, scrum master responsibilities, cross-team coordination, and system documentation to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions on time.

  • Customer management
    • Primary POC for customer interactions
    • Responsible for collecting customer requirements
    • Translate requirements into Jira tickets
    • Understand customer business processes
    • Understand pitfalls with existing system/processes
  • Team management (NMDP)
    • Serve as scrum master (Run team standups, run sprint review, run retrospectives)
    • Responsible for creating sprint deliverables (schedule sprint review meeting, create sprint review PowerPoint, coordinate demo script with team lead)
    • Work with project lead and team lead to scope sprints (sprint planning)
    • Create and close sprints/releases in Jira
    • Ensure sprints stay on track and deliver on time (alongside team lead)
    • Ensure all project milestones will be met (alongside project lead/team lead)
  • Cross-team collaboration
    • Primary POC for reporting status to NMDP product owner (alongside team lead)
    • Attend sprint reviews of all teams (eIDMS/RA Tool/NMDP)
    • Identify common needs or problems across teams, coordinate solutions with project lead
    • Coordinate activities across teams (deployment dates, upgrade dates, etc.)
    • Coordinate cross-team meetings (if the need arises)
  • Testing (NMDP)
    • Conduct DT&E test events with customer (with support from dev team)
    • Perform acceptance testing on sprint tickets (quality control release)
    • Perform regression testing after releases
    • Work with SWE to identify requirements for automated test scripts
  • Production support (Tier 1 support)
    • Triage service desk tickets
    • Reply to customer inquiries
    • For bugs/advanced issues, coordinate with dev team for resolution
    • User management (create/update/deactivate operator records/sync across environments)
  • Documentation
    • Schedule outages for NMDP deployments
    • Handle documentation for 'checkpoint' meetings (work with project lead/team lead)
    • Create and update application user guides
    • Manage project documentation
    • Manage personas in Pega
    • Obtain Pega Business Architect certification

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and fourteen (14) years' experience as an SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Twenty (25) years’ SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Willingness to learn and develop strong understanding new technologies and products
  • Experience developing and updating technical documentation including project schedules
  • Experience with requirements management to include working with customers to capture clear definition of done

The estimated salary range for this position is between $180,000-$215,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
