Job Summary: The Patient Support Specialist provides administrative support to patients enrolled in specialty drug programs by performing medication-related tasks such as refill requests, billing inquiries, prior authorization submissions, and other related activities. This position works closely with healthcare providers, pharmacies, payers, and patients to ensure successful outcomes for all parties involved.
Responsibilities:
• Respond to patient phone calls, emails, and faxes in a timely manner; document all interactions accurately and completely
• Assist with prior authorization requirements including gathering information required for appeals
• Process prescription refills according to program guidelines
• Coordinate delivery of medications directly to patients or to pharmacies
• Perform billing inquiries on behalf of patients
• Provide support to clinical staff as needed
• Maintain accurate records of all patient communications and actions taken
• Utilize computer systems to access patient accounts, process transactions, and generate reports
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve issues and improve processes
• Adhere to strict patient confidentiality standards at all times
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong customer service skills with a focus on providing excellent patient care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
