What are we looking for?

We are seeking an Operations Response Engineer to join our global Operations team. The position is part of an internal team that receives alerts and escalations from a variety of ingress channels. You will work on responding to identified alerts which may have a varying degree of known or unknown causes, including running playbooks, investigating causes, or escalating unfamiliar issues to more senior engineering groups. You will work within cloud-related aspects such as multi-tenancy, high availability & agility, SQL and NoSQL DB, Redis, security and more. The challenge is to support an efficient large-scale cloud management solution in a heavily used production environment for enterprise customers. Additional responsibilities include direct communication and coordination with other teams, such as Customer Support, inside/outside sales teams, and internal cloud/development operations teams. The Operations Response Engineer will also assist with any critical production issues promptly in the form of an engagement through our Incident Management Tools and Programs.

What will you be doing?

  • Handle production issues during working hours.
  • Apply workarounds for remediation of console issues until fully fixed in the code, e.g. tweaks in the DB or a cache, adding rules to Nginx, etc.
  • Review some code and potentially make minor (low-risk) changes.
  • Escalate some issues to R&D teams after investigation and be able to locate the component responsible for issues.
  • Be involved in some project work when opportunities allow for it.
  • Write supportability improvements documentation.
  • Support GovCloud issues where the Israel dev team can’t access the consoles.

What skills and knowledge should you bring?

  • Good understanding of Linux (Ubuntu 14.04/18.04 or other Debian-based distros preferred)
  • Experience working with databases (Postgres, Mongo, and Redis are preferred)
  • Experience with Python and its web framework
  • Experience with Docker
  • Broad knowledge of current cloud technologies and services such as AWS
  • Fluent English must have excellent English reading, writing, and speaking skills
  • Ability to work in shifts (including weekends)
