We are looking for a Software Engineer with Big Data background to join our team, Office Growth Activation Team (OGA). We empower Office Engineering Teams with Data, Insights, SDKs (Software development kit) and toolchain to respond to customer feedback, steer future investments, and ensure that our customers have the best experiences possible by delivering innovative modern data solutions and services, which enable new Office experiences, and richly informed hypothesis-driven agility. We also serve Enterprise Tenant Admins with Insights about Office Health, empowering them to engage and collaborate for greater productivity by processing trillions of events daily.

What We Work On

  • We provide metrics used for inferring User’s Happiness when using Microsoft365 products.
  • We help products get a better understanding of how a user is moving across the various segments of the Microsoft365 Suite.
  • We provide clear signals for Microsoft365 products to identify and understand areas of investment with direct impact on our users.
  • We process billions of events per day, our systems are highly scalable and support both business and product intelligence through our portals and ad-hoc data analysis.
  • These systems form the bedrock of Microsoft365’s data-informed culture and are used by all products across mobile, web, and desktop platforms.

We’re looking for candidates with the ability and desire to learn and master new technologies, great communication and collaboration skills to engage with teams across Microsoft365 to ensure we're addressing their scenarios end to end, solid engineering skills, and great judgement. Working across Microsoft you will have access to cutting-edge technologies to find the best of breed solutions for our partners.   • Work alongside the team to develop innovative data engineering solutions and contribute to data democratization in Office organization.
  • Collaborate with Office Engineering teams to review data needs and build scalable systems to meet internal and external partner needs.
  • Modernize the data platform for scale, compliance, and keeping costs in control
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team in building and productizing the data science models for Reliability and Growth needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js and understanding of Web UX design principles.
  • Knowledge of Data Pipelines such as Cosmos, Kusto, Azure Data Factory, etc.
  • Experience working collaboratively with a team of engineers.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $63,900 - CAD $126,600 per year.
