California Mantel & Fireplace Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Masonry Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for masonry projects - stone veneer, brick, exterior precast, including fireplaces, mantels, and other architectural features. You will collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to develop detailed bids and ensure the feasibility and profitability of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of masonry materials, labor costs, and construction processes, as well as excellent analytical and organizational skills. This role is crucial in helping California Mantel & Fireplace maintain competitive pricing while delivering exceptional craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate masonry cost estimates.
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment requirements for each project.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals within deadlines.
- Work closely with project managers and sales teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project scope and goals.
- Maintain databases of historical costs and project data to improve estimating accuracy.
- Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate cost overruns.
- Stay updated on industry trends, material prices, and construction techniques relevant to masonry work.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a masonry estimator or in a similar estimating role within the construction or masonry industry.
- Strong understanding of masonry materials, labor costs, and construction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications in construction management or estimating are advantageous.
