Essential Job Functions
- Provides advanced-level clinical support to medical and behavioral health providers, ensuring the highest standard of patient care.
- Serves as a mentor and preceptor for newly hired and junior medical assistants, assisting in training and competency assessments.
- Coordinates patient care activities, including follow-ups, appointment scheduling, and lab processing, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
- Conducts complex clinical procedures such as venipuncture, wound care, electrocardiograms (EKGs), spirometry, and diabetic foot checks.
- Performs advanced medication administration, including intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) injections, in accordance with clinic protocols.
- Facilitates team huddles and contributes to care coordination meetings to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Assists in maintaining regulatory compliance, including infection control procedures, HIPAA compliance, and documentation standards.
- Supports provider efficiency by assisting with medical scribing and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Collaborates with external healthcare partners to coordinate patient referrals, hospital follow-ups, and continuity of care.
- Assumes leadership responsibilities within the medical assistant team, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Summary

- Preferred experience in ambulatory, public, community, mental health, emergency, or critical care nursing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a high-volume clinic or community health setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training (e.g., Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)).
