The Quality Engineer achieves and maintains quality standards in an efficient and effective manner to provide quality products to customers by engaging, coaching, and mentoring workforce to develop understanding of, accountability for, and pride in meeting quality standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor and continually improve the Quality Management System by understanding and implementing Quality and/or Regulatory requirements where needed.
  • Develop and implement tools and systems to monitor performance and drive needed actions.
  • Work with program teams to evaluate requirements and set-up process controls to meet requirements.
  • Evaluate and document risks associated with processes and product and take actions to mitigate and monitor risks, including PFMEA, Preventive Actions, etc.
  • Work with Purchasing to evaluate, select and review supplier performance. 
  • Evaluate materials for use as needed to ensure they meet customer, industry and regulatory expectations.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve non-conforming materials issues through Vanguard’s NCMR process.
  • Investigate, problem solve to root cause and resolve quality issues on Production, Supplier and Customer related issues using established Vanguard processes.  Review Corrective Action Effectiveness.
  • Participate in Vanguard’s internal audit process, customer audits and regulatory audits to ensure that Vanguard is meeting or exceeding the customers’ and regulatory requirements.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of Vanguard’s Corrective and Preventive Action process by reviewing CARs at all critical phases in CAPA process.
  • Drive a high performing organization by providing effective programs for clear communication between all employees, departments and management.
  • Lead/participate in team projects from development through completion to continually improve processes.

Requirements

What you’ll need:

  • Advanced proficiency in computer systems, including MS software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proven ability to initiate process improvements, apply Lean concepts and problem-solving techniques.
  • Operational and technical skills, initiative and influence, and business perspective.
  • Business process management, advanced problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external vendors and customers.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Experience in an ISO certified, Quality-controlled organization
  • Experience in Medical Device and/or Aerospace & Defense industry

While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly uses hands and arms to handle, feel, and reach for objects, tools, or controls. The role requires the ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch, as well as to speak and hear. The employee routinely uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision.
