Reports to: Sr. Program Manager - Industrial

Compensation*: Competitive starting salary $88,800 – 112,800 commensurate with skills and experience, Full Pay Range: $88,800 - $136,700

Our Location

Energy Trust provides for a range of work location options, including remote, hybrid and in-office work. This position will represent Energy Trust in public settings and potentially at community events. We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Program Manager would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.

 

What We’re Looking For:

This Program Manager – Industrial will manage the design, development, delivery and ongoing implementation of Energy Trust’s Industrial Energy Performance Management offerings for customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural, Cascade Natural Gas, and Avista. The position will manage budgets and savings goals associated with the delivery of the offerings while building and maintaining relationships with contractors, customers, utilities and external stakeholders. 

This individual reports to the Sr. Program Manager. 

This position is expected to report to the Portland office quarterly at a minimum for all staff and other in-person meetings. This position should consider traveling as needed to customer sites and industry conferences a few times a year. 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Manage all aspects of the Industrial sector Energy Performance Management offerings including goal setting, budgeting, program development and implementation. The Energy Performance Management offerings include strategic energy management (SEM), energy management internship and treasure hunt offerings. 
  • Ensure that the Energy Performance Management design, strategy, marketing and implementation activities are synchronized with the Custom offering activities. 
  • Review and analyze current and historic performance data to inform and adjust energy performance management delivery and offering design. 
  • Direct the work of internal energy trust staff and external contractors supporting Energy Performance Management implementation activities.  
  • Oversee strategy development for SEM and other energy management approaches, including the evolution of energy performance offerings to support small to medium customers, accelerate savings, and optimize and leverage the use of our energy management software.   
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams and external stakeholders on the development and available features for our energy management software. 
  • Lead the Energy Performance Management elements of the program contracting process. This includes supporting the development of RFP’s, scopes of work, soliciting bids, negotiating and finalizing contracts. 
  • Manage the Energy Performance Management elements of contracts and budgets, directing the work of contractors to achieve program goals and ensuring terms and deliverables are met. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Energy Trust Industry and Agriculture program managers and internal support teams to ensure program effectiveness and continued innovation.
  • Write and present reports to advisory committee, board and other internal stakeholders. 
  • Assist in program evaluations and reviews. 
  • As needed, serve on relevant public boards and committees including the Consortium for Energy Efficiency’s SEM committee and North American SEM Collaborative. Coordinate delivery channels across market segments with other regional efforts such as those by NEEA and BPA. 
  • Represent Energy Trust interests and regularly give persuasive presentations to external stakeholders and customers at public events. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 
  • Perform all duties of the job in a safe manner. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

·       This position will direct the work of external contractors and internal Energy Trust staff members.  

Requirements

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree (engineering, science, economics, or relevant area of study preferred), or equivalent years of professional experience in these industries 
  • Five years of experience in program and/or project management within the energy efficiency industry. Strategic Energy Management experience strongly preferred. 
  • 2 years of experience managing complex contracts and budgets and directing the work of contractors and staff.  
  • Understanding of contract administration and risk mitigation 
  • Experience in program design, delivery and all phases of implementation. 
  • Experience in all phases of hiring and managing contractors, from internal approval of funding, writing scopes of work,  soliciting bids, negotiating and finalizing contracts, to managing the execution of the contract. 
  • Experience with energy efficiency and energy economics (i.e. measure life, cost benefit analysis) preferred. 
  • Experience working on multiple team-based initiatives and balancing multiple priorities. 
  • Delegation, financial analysis, prioritization and time management, multitasking and strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications, particularly Excel and knowledge of SharePoint.  
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communications skills. 
  • Understanding of utility regulatory environment and political context for Energy Trust’s work preferred  
  • Customer service skills and experience. 
  • Must be able to interact with a diverse workforce and be comfortable working in culturally diverse settings and groups.
