Position Overview

The Occupational Health Nurse shall provide clinical and programmatic occupational health services at LBNL’s employee occupational health clinic to ensure employee health, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and best EH&S management practices.

The Occupational Health Nurse shall complete necessary documentation (medical records, worker’s compensation paperwork, electronic medical records systems entries), and oversee assigned occupational health programs to assure that LBNL meets applicable regulatory requirements through technical program planning and direction. The Occupational Health Nurse shall be responsible for managing and assisting with the delivery of multiple medical surveillance programs. Other duties assigned by the clinical manager/medical director.

Requirements

Occupational Health Nurse (RN) Qualification Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a current license (CA Board of Registered Nursing https://www.rn.ca.gov).

Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Health Nurse - Specialist or (COHN-S) certification.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience directly related to occupational health.

Shall have knowledge of applicable federal, State of California and local regulations including workers' compensation laws.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Certification in spirometry, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Certification in audiometry, and American Heart Association (AHA) Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

Proven subject matter expertise in assigned program areas along with demonstrated ability to plan, develop and manage technical programs (e.g., bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, and Worker’s Compensation Case Management).

Shall have the ability to effectively consult with others and independently resolve a variety of complex problems as well as a strong understanding of technical processes, applicable safety regulations, and program/project management.

Shall have knowledge of additional occupational health fields such as industrial hygiene, health physics and occupational safety.

Sound administrative and technical skills; knowledge of Google Suite (GMail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sheets), Microsoft Office, Smartsheets and electronic medical records systems Google Docs. Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

Shall be able to sit at a desk and/or be on their feet and walking at least eight (8) hours a day. Subcontractor personnel shall be able to assume and maintain various postural positions including, but not limited to, kneeling, reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, and lifting.

**Desired Qualifications **

Have statistical analysis skills, the ability to interpret regulations, knowledge of the regulatory process and experience in monitoring regulatory developments.
