Description
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Junior Associate Family Law Attorney to join our growing family law practice in Massachusetts. This role is ideal for an early-career attorney who is eager to develop hands-on experience in family law while working under the guidance of senior attorneys. The successful candidate will assist with a broad range of family law matters and demonstrate strong advocacy, organization, and client-care skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior attorneys with family law matters, including divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, alimony, modifications, and contempt actions
- Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, memoranda, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements
- Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries and analyses
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and conferences under supervision, as appropriate
- Participate in client meetings, intake interviews, and ongoing client communications
- Manage assigned cases with attention to deadlines, accuracy, and ethical standards
- Collaborate with paralegals, intake staff, and other attorneys to ensure efficient case management
- Maintain accurate and timely timekeeping and case documentation
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and in good standing, or admission pending
- 0–3 years of legal experience (family law experience preferred but not required)
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-centered approach
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Interest in or exposure to family law and domestic relations
- Comfort appearing in court and interacting with opposing counsel
- Empathy and emotional intelligence when working with clients during sensitive matters
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow within the practice
- Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office
Benefits
Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 annually
