Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Foreperson, Wiring & Service to join our team!

 

What You Will Do

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Wiring & Service, you will be responsible for overseeing, and supervising the work carried out in the Wiring & Service workforce (in stations, yards, facilities, repair shops, and throughout TTC properties). This involves the installation, maintenance, inspection, repair and testing of various electrical systems (i.e., electrical, technical, structural) and/or equipment. This may include work with electronic and electrical equipment, power distribution equipment, and cables that provide traction power for streetcar and subway services.  

 

Other responsibilities of your role will include:

 

  • Inspect equipment and/or systems (i.e., electrical, technical, structural), test, and repair as necessary.
  • Review, modify, and update or upgrade systems and databases on an on-going basis (both hardware and software) as new information relevant to work is introduced.
  • Liaise with other colleagues, support staff, other departments, and potentially external customers or stakeholders concerning routine matters related to the work assigned.
  • Develop and organize materials or procedures (i.e., technical manuals, supplier information).
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, assistance and recommendations for the area of responsibility as needed.
  • Plan, adjust, and project work, schedules, costs, and systems as needed.
  • Address environmental, safety, and other compliance issues related to operations in the Department or Section.
  • Record information and communications (e.g., reports, estimates, employee-related documented, schedules, inventory) and store appropriately for Department use. Distribute to the appropriate parties in accordance with established standards.
  • Review, process, and monitor information (data, records, processes and/or equipment inventory), following up, and updating as required.
  • Complete tasks in relation to managing people, including administrative duties along with approving/authorizing requests ensuring they are within established standards, related policies and compliance regulations.

  • Your application will reveal possession of a valid Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (Construction and Maintenance, 309A) and a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license.  Use of a personal vehicle may be required for work assignments.
  • Your possession of an ECRA/ESA Master Electrician License or equivalent will be considered an asset.
  • Your several years of directly related work experience will also be evident in your application.
  • You application will demonstrate thorough knowledge of the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, emergency power supplies and light and power distribution systems.
