Performer Claims Lead

About the team
PPL’s Repertoire team are experts when it comes to music data. Through managing the PPL Repertoire Database, they provide services and analysis on data submitted by PPL Members and Licensees to ensure that requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met. Their work ensures that we can maximise revenue generation and pay-through. The Repertoire team also works to resolve key data gaps at source wherever possible, as well as promoting industry standards and working on international projects to improve music data quality.
What you’ll be doing:
The Performer Line-Up team is responsible for all of the Repertoire department’s work in managing performer line-up information and associated data. Reporting into the Performer Line-Up Manager, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring that the correct singers, bass guitarists, drummers, flautists, and many many more are accurately logged against the right recordings as performers within PPL’s Repertoire Database to ensure performers are paid correctly when their music is used. Specifically you will be managing all workflows relating to claims made by performers, their representatives or their CMOs to tight operational timelines. You will be a subject matter expert, representing your team in a number of internal forums and projects. You will work to the Performer Line-Up Manager’s direction to complete work in line with documented processes, will manage the day to day work of two administrators. This role requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with large volumes of data. A love and knowledge for a wide range of music is also a must!
Key Responsibilities:
Working to priorities as set by the Performer Line-Up Manager to contribute to the achievement of objectives, quality standards and excellent customer service
Managing all processes relating to the receipt of performer claims from performers, their representatives, CMOs and VRDB to agreed SLAs
To proactively identify and communicate with sources of poor quality data
To ensure evidence of performance that is accepted can be objectively recoginised against documented PPL policies, and is stored in the appropriate way
To manage ad hoc claims from other CMOs that contain large volumes of performer claims and to complete processing of these in line with agreed SLAs and processes
To provide timely feedback to the business on progress with claims management against operational milestones
Ensuring Salesforce is kept up to date with relevant commentary and documentation for each claim processed
Monitoring data compliance against PPL’s Repertoire Data Policy and Music Reporting Policy across all relevant datasets
To occasionally meet and discuss claims queries with performers or their representatives
Gaining and maintaining a good knowledge and understanding of Repertoire and Music Reporting data, PPL distribution policies (including International and VPL) and the music industry generally
Working in collaboration with the Performer Line-Up Manager and the Repertoire Data Team Manager to complete tasks as required by the performer data workstreams, for UK, International and Business Services purposes
To continually improve business processes and QA
What you’ll need:
- Demonstratable experience working in a data processing environment Experience of managing people
- High analytical skills – able to apply these skills to large datasets
- Ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
- Can research, comprehend & assess evidence from various sources
- Advanced excel skills, able to use functions such as Vlookup and Pivot tables
- Experience utilising multiple bespoke reporting tools (in reporting platforms such as Tableau and Birst) and identify the most effective reports to use for the query
- Has experience carrying out quality assurance (QA) on datasets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite
