The Role - Professional Consulting Veterinarian - 12 month fixed term contract, part-time (2 days per week), with the option of future extension for the right candidate

 

In this role you will take ownership for driving brand recommendation and ensuring that Hill’s is known as a scientific, innovative and credible partner that is engaged with veterinary professionals to transform the lives of dogs and cats through superior nutrition.

 

This role is passionate about nutrition and about educating both internal and external stakeholders about the benefits of our range of diets. It serves as the technical expert for QLD, working with the field sales team as well as directly with universities and specialist hospitals to drive product understanding and leadership. This role also works closely with marketing and sales teams to drive digital and in person educational strategies in line with the category focuses and brings these to life within both independent and corporate environments. The Professional Consulting Veterinarian serves as the professional face of Hill’s representing the company at veterinary conferences and discussing nutritional cases directly with veterinarians both in person and by digital means.

 

The main responsibilities of the role are:

 

  • Develop and maintain high standards of knowledge in small animal nutrition and Hill’s products

  • Identify opportunities to use expertise to affect a commercial gain

  • Be the go to technical resource for the QLD sales team, train and coach territory managers to understand the technical information on the Hill’s Science Diet and Prescription Diet products 

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with Key Thought Leaders, specialist hospitals and universities in Far N-QLD

  • Deliver training presentations to veterinarians, veterinary students, nurses and pet specialty retail groups

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of Hill’s digital educational resources for veterinarians, veterinary nurses, pet retail staff, and consumers

  • Participate in wellness and prescription diet brand cross functional teams

  • Collaborate with customer development team on key account management and/or territory account management

  • Represent Hill’s at professional events such as industry conferences

  • Work with Global Professional Veterinary Affairs team to execute on local strategy and initiatives

 

This position is based in SE-QLD  and is a great opportunity within a global organisation.

 

The ideal candidate has the following skills

  • Excellent communication skills including both written and oral communication, ability to present in front of large audiences

  • Has a good eye for commercial opportunities and a sound business mind

  • Stakeholder management – effective at using stakeholders as resources

  • Be able to work independently and travel within region to deliver customer training and attend professional conferences, some overnight travel is required

  • Previous animal health industry highly regarded

 

What you’ll need

  • Degree in Veterinary Science 

  • Current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of QLD

  • At least 3 years small animal clinical experience

  • Valid QLD driver’s license 

  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Google Suite tools is ideal
