Solar Turbines Incorporated, headquartered in San Diego, California, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. Solar manufactures the world’s most widely used family of mid-sized industrial gas turbines, ranging from 1 to 23 megawatts. Job Summary

Solar Turbines Inc. is looking for a motivated, creative, high performing engineer to join the Custom Solutions team.

Custom Solutions is a dynamic project execution environment where you will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines with the goal of supporting our Customers and Manufacturing.

The ideal candidate for this position would have a degree in Engineering, an interest in data analytics, and a passion to develop new applications and tools.

Job Accountabilities
The Solutions Engineer is instrumental in developing new applications to meet both day-to-day needs and drive long-term efficiencies. They are deeply knowledgeable about different software systems and technology and use that knowledge to solve issues through customized solutions. This position requires coordinating with various organizations within Solar Turbines, including Production and IT. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are imperative. 

The successful candidate will collaborate with an Engineering Value Stream with up to 10 other engineering disciplines. Having the ability to work well with a team, paying attention to detail with a focus on quality, and the drive to deliver on time is critical to this position. A sense of urgency and organizational skills are required to work with competing priorities.

In this role, you will help create customized technology solutions based on the needs of the organization. You will meet with stakeholders to learn about their requirements, then research existing applications and develop solutions to satisfy the requirements.  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Degree in Data Analytics (or equivalent experience)

Top Candidates Have:

• The successful candidate will have experience-based exposure to Microsoft Power Apps and SharePoint.
• Working knowledge of Redmine, Tableau and Power BI are a plus.

Summary Pay Range:

$76,542.00 - $114,814.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
