Job Summary

The Sr Oil Scout will demonstrate a record of varied exposure to many global basins and scout information flow and reporting.  They will provide global reporting, competitor/business intelligence and develop access to Gulf of America and International deal flow.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a team-first approach and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

 

This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work up to two (2) days a week remotely.

 

Responsibilities 

 

  • Weekly reporting on GOA activity including ongoing wells and upcoming wells
  • Communication with peers on data trades or potential deals
  • Participation at OOSA functions
  • International Scout and Reporting
  • Provides peer and government information flow associated with ever evolving GOA lease sale timelines and government regulations
  • Liaise with the land department to maintain lease reporting and summaries
  • Driving the business, being proactive, and working with commercial teams to identify and capitalize on potential deal flow
  • Upgrade scouting to recent advancements in technology including AI and dashboards
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with other E&P’s to ensure that we are a partner of choice
  • Collaboration and involvement with the technical team to ensure delivery of key information related to active projects

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree in Earth Sciences, Engineering, or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in roles that develop breadth of knowledge and business acumen in the upstream oil and gas industry
  • In depth understanding of a scouting function and how the role contributes to the success of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to document results, construct a story, and develop a concise supporting presentation to clearly communicate a recommendation to Senior Management
  • Understanding of international and GOA scouting
  • Ability to work effectively with the exploration team to provide updated information on active leases, wells, and deals

 

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions.  Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs.  The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
