RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties & responsibilities of the Senior Design Engineer include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Create and manage releases, supplier sourcing, and placing parts on contract.
- Manage document control team and control engineering ISO documentation and procedures.
- Coordinate with prototype build team to ensure that schedules are accomplished within time and money estimates.
- Manage the manufacturing of new product creation from prototype to production level, including provision of technical guidance / assistance.
- Predict product reliability and performance using engineering analysis tools.
- Create solid model concepts, simulations and required analysis culminating into complete product assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Confirming product specifications and investigating the use of new materials or other devises in prototype development.
- Coordinate NPD activities of products under ISO requirements, industry standards, and other relevant procedures.
- Develop products and certifications in compliance and with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Acquire laboratory certification from UL for testing as required.
- Conceptualize and model new product designs with SolidWorks.
- Establish spare parts inventories for critical production prototype equipment.
- Evaluate competitive products and identify opportunities to leverage and monetize IP.
- Provide final approval to technical manuals on new products.
- Participate in field testing and performance testing in conjunction with appropriate company team members.
- Review and analyze data statistically to recommend process improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 year degree- BSME or equivalent
- 8 years direct work experience in a tool design environment
- Proven project management and leadership skills
- Excellent communication (oral, written and listening) and interpersonal skills
- Team oriented; Able to interact with all levels of employees; Good facilitation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access)
- Proficient in the use of Computer Aided Design, preferably SolidWorks
- Experienced in the use of Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
