Job Purpose - The Category lead – Ethanol & Retail Infrastructure will be responsible for developing Category strategies and ensuring cost effective supply for their respective sub-categories (all spend related to Ethanol Project, marketing infra projects e.g., Depots - related material & services) and establishing strategic partnerships with suppliers. This position will interact with several functions in the organization and will report to the Lead Procurement HO.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ethanol Project handling
• Must have handled Ethanol project related procurement - end to end.
• Ethanol project procurement related to licence, PMC, EPC, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Utility procurement handling.
• Tender document preparation in relation to relevant clauses and further necessary actions till agreement.
• Sufficient knowledge and experience of related vendors and related work handling.
• End to end procurement process till execution / delivery of material / services.
2. Category Strategy & Procurement Leadership
• Define and execute procurement strategy for Ethanol & Marketing Retail Infrastructure projects including civil, mechanical, electrical, utility etc.
• Ensure alignment with Nayara’s policies, ethical standards, and digital procurement protocols.
• Lead category segmentation, sourcing strategy, buying channel definition, and go-to-market planning.
3. Supplier Management & Contract Governance
• Own supplier relationships and lead negotiations to secure optimal cost, quality, and delivery.
• Optimize supply base, mitigate risks, and manage contract enforcement and change orders.
• Chair pre-bid meetings and represent category cases at forums for internal approvals.
4. Cost Optimization & Market Intelligence
• Develop and execute cost reduction plans and clean-sheet costing models across sub-categories.
• Leverage cross-PL synergies to drive favourable commercial terms.
• Monitor commodity trends and provide strategic inputs to Finance (e.g., hedging opportunities).
5. Planning, Analytics & Execution Oversight
• Collaborate with planning and analytics teams to prepare spend analysis and demand forecasts.
• Oversee procurement planning and daily execution including tendering, bid evaluation, and order placement.
• Guide sub-category managers in sourcing strategy and operational delivery.
6. Capability Development & Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor procurement team; assign responsibilities and monitor performance.
• Drive adoption of digital procurement tools and continuous improvement across processes.
7. Performance Monitoring & Strategic Reporting
• Establish and maintain supplier databases; track spend, delivery plans, and deviations.
• Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and conduct regular business reviews.
• Maximize ARC coverage, reduce tactical ordering, and ensure alignment with KPIs and BSC targets.
Qualifications
Knowledge
1. Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
• Engineer (BE-Mechanical/ Electrical) + MBA
2. Relevant (Functional/Level) & Total Years of Experience:
• 15+ years’ experience in managing the Procurement function in a large process industry contract & procurement management experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Procurement, commercial and technical function specifically for Ethanol project related end to end procurement.
Skills:
1. Functional Skills:
- Good Knowledge of procurement process, Industry standard contracts in the fields of Refinery, Bulk & Heavy Chemicals process industry, Ethanol project related end to end procurement.
- Thorough Knowledge of SAP Modules (MM, PM&QM)
- Knowledge of Procedures -Corporate Objectives, Standard Operating procedures for Purchase, HSEF, SAP,
- Basic knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory framework
- Basic understanding of the refinery operations and processes
- Commercial Knowledge -Budget and Cost control, - Analysis etc, Best practices, Value Engineering, / Procurement strategy,
- Knowledge of market trends - Market rates, Market Conditions, Other suppliers, New Products & Technology
