Job Description:The 24/7 Hyperscale Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of Hyperscale environments and the supporting NEXTDC infrastructure. This position operates on a rotating shift roster to maintain full 24/7 coverage and continuous support for our Hyperscale customer. The role ensures all critical plant and infrastructure are managed and maintained in line with Uptime Institute (UTI) Operational Sustainability Gold standards. It also includes coordinating and overseeing third-party contractors, while delivering high-quality technical support to customers to ensure reliable service and an exceptional overall experience.
Your day to day will include:
- Work in a rotating shift roster to support 24/7 data centre operations
- Operate, monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure to meet uptime targets
- Coordinate contractors to ensure maintenance meets best-practice & UTI Gold standards
- Collaborate with Customer Success and Facility Management to deliver smooth operations
- Ensure compliance with WHS, Facility Rules, and company policies
- Escalate and manage incidents in line with procedures
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical infrastructure issues promptly
- Perform testing, tuning, and preventative maintenance to optimise reliability
- Support data centre certification requirements
- Prepare operational reports and recommend process or system improvements
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams
- Assist with equipment handling, assembly, and installation
- Identify and manage operational risks using approved processes
- Participate in training, assessments, and EOP drills
- Maintain accurate documentation (SWIs, EOPs, as-built drawings)
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Perform additional duties as directed by Senior Facility Management
About you:
- Foundational knowledge of electrical, mechanical, cooling, and fire systems
- Understanding of rack management and installation practices
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and monitoring/building management systems
- Strong planning, organisation, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data centre facilities, building services, or a related maintenance environment.
- NV1 Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain one) is essential.
- Trade qualification in Electrical or Mechanical (Air Conditioning) is preferred.
- A Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline is desirable.
- Prior experience working within a shift-based or rotational roster is advantageous.
