The Security Captain oversees the efficient delivery of security services and provides leadership to a medium-sized workforce at the assigned job site. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to workforce management, issuing tasks and post assignments, and performing a variety of administrative duties (payroll, scheduling, reporting). The Security Captain is the primary point of contact with the client’s representative for all matters related to the execution of the contract. Must be available to respond to emergency situations during weekends and evenings, consistent with the 24/7 nature of our operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of experience in law enforcement, military police, corrections, or private industrial security company within the past five years
  • Three years of prior management experience in position(s) of increasing responsibility that required sound decision making and incident/event management
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong working knowledge of 33 CFR 105 and Port Security practices
  • State of Washington Security Officer license or able to obtain
  • Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) or able to obtain
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong decision making and incident/event management skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior experience working in a refinery, petrochemical or plant environment
  • Completion of Facility Security Officer (FSO) course or equivalent
  • Knowledge of TWIC program
  • Knowledge of developing Security Post Orders pertinent to a Refinery and Port/Maritime facility
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and maintain a Security Officer Training Program
  • Advanced skills utilizing common office related computer programs plus ability to learn proprietary programs unique to client (CCTS)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage day-to-day operations at the assigned job site and provide oversight of the DUS security workforce to include interviewing and hiring, job site specific onboarding, work schedules, training, uniform orders, equipment orders, personnel actions, fleet management, and other tasks.
  • Directly supervise the shift Sergeants and Operations Support Officer.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the TWIC office and receptionist.
  • Plan and conduct training for the workforce in accordance with the requirements of 33 CFR, Facility Security Plan, DUS’ HSE program, and other applicable guidelines and policies.
  • Provide subject expertise to the FSO, client representatives, and other appropriate parties concerning the security processes at the facility.
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of, and the ability to apply, DUS Policies and procedures (both administrative and security), report writing procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills while communicating with people when providing information, mediating disputes, investigating incidents, and performing other duty related tasks.

PAY & BENEFITS

Full-time regular employees are provided access to our employee assistance program. Anticipated annual pay is $95,000 with three weeks of Paid Time Off as accrued.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The majority of work is performed in a refinery setting and required interactions with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.  Candidate will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire occupational health physical.
