DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs is seeking a Part-time Adult Instructor to teach in the Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Certified Technician program. This program provides industry aligned career training and experience to adult students interested in acquiring the necessary skills to assimilate into the 21st Century workforce. Classes will be held two nights per week from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Adult Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center in Westbury Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing instruction for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning II Course
o Students will learn the functions of gauges, vacuuming, and pressure testing to become competent in detecting leaks in water cooled equipment, water towers, and basic chillers
Providing instruction for Refrigerant, Recovery and Recycling Course
o This course focuses on the regulations and codes pertaining to Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling equipment stipulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. Students will participate in hands-on projects that utilize special machinery for recovering and recycling refrigerant from sealed systems while practicing safety procedures for handling HFC-R410 Refrigerant to become certified technicians
Providing instruction for EPA Seminar and Certification Test
o The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning program culminates with a preparation seminar and the EPA Technician Certification Exam. Gaining this certification enables students to become technicians with the ability to maintain, service, and repair commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems
REQUIREMENTS:
- Industry related experience
- Previous teaching experience is preferred
