INNOVIM Defense Services is seeking a Service Infrastructure Lead Architect to join our team supporting the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) program at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). INNOVIM supports the development, implementation, sustainment, and operations of enclaves and systems that manage missile defense training, events, analysis, and operations.
The candidate will:
- Own the entirety of service design, delivery and operational performance for services in this technical vertical.
- Provide leadership and guidance to an Architecture and Engineering team, ensuring excellence in design and implementation, and an Operations team to ensure operational stability and reliability.
- Own and lead efforts to optimize existing infrastructure and continuous improvement.
- Possess the ability to translate business needs into actionable technical strategies
- Have a commitment to operational efficiency
- Will be able to drive technical excellence across the service delivery team.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Vision and Strategy:
- Develop and maintain the overall technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Service Infrastructure, aligning with business goals and IT strategy.
- Develop and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and guidelines for the Service Infrastructure.
Architectural Design and Implementation:
- Evangelize and ensure adherence to standard service delivery lifecycle framework.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to Architecture and Engineering.
Operational Excellence and Stability:
- Facilitate knowledge transfer across Architecture and Engineering and Operations.
- Establish and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with IT stakeholders across the organization to facilitate awareness and alignment of IT strategies and activities.
Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve the Service Infrastructure architecture and processes.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Financial Awareness:
- A solid understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, cost management, return on investment (ROI) analysis, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Technical Acumen (Expertise):
The Lead Technical Architect must possess experienced expertise in one of the following technical domains and a strong working knowledge of all technical areas:
- Linux and Windows Servers
- Server Virtualization
- Cloud Infrastructure
- Storage Infrastructure
- Management and Orchestration Tooling
- Identity, Credentials, and Access Management
- Data Center Management
Basic Requirements:
- Must have 14, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience. May be reduced with completion of advanced education
- Must have 7, or more, years of directly related experience in IT Service Infrastructure
- Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
- Must have 3, or more, years in a lead architect or similar role
- Must have experience in directing the architecture and operations of Service Infrastructure in several large and complex organizations across government and/or commercial.
- Must have deep technical expertise in one or more key service infrastructure technologies and a strong working knowledge of Windows Server OS, RHEL OS, VMWare, Azure, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, Stacker, GetLab CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Active Directory, Entra ID, and/or related technologies.
- Must have proven experience in designing, implementing and operating Service Infrastructure technologies.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and executive audiences.
- Must have experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
- Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher) certification
- Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- Have a deep understanding of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks.
- Have a deep understanding of ITIL framework and best practices, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service release management.
- Have an ITIL v4 Foundation Certification (Managing Professional preferred).
- Have experience in a specific industry (e.g. DoD IT Operations).
- Have Project management experience.
- Have an ITIL Strategic Leader certification.
- Have 1, or more, of the following certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Windows Server Hybrid Admin or Red Hat Certified Specialist
This position is expected to pay $180,000 - $220,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
