Salary: $18,085 - $20,575 / quarter base?depending on experience & education

This position qualifies for an additional High Demand Supplemental Salary amount of up to $2,680 / quarter depending on load
(Per quarter salary calculation: Base multiplied by class load %, (ex.: $20,575 base x50% teaching load = approx. $10,287.50)

Faculty at Shoreline will have an array of students from differing programs in their classroom, including professional technical and university transfers. Shoreline seeks a candidate that can identify and mitigate the barriers to success that many students face and be passionate about creating an equitable learning environment that supports success for all studentsThis posting gathers qualified applicants in the event that a position opens, or additional instructors are needed. Mathematics instructors are responsible for teaching a variety of courses ranging from Corequisite Intermediate Algebra to Calculus and Introduction to Statistics.

Position Duties

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics or Statistics
  • Experience teaching in a higher education environment

Knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems (eg. Canvas), and other appropriate instructional technology
  • Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College
  • Developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently

Skill in:
  • Imparting excitement and enthusiasm into teaching Mathematics
  • Teaching and developing coursework online
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through awareness and responsiveness
  • Adapting to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds & abilities
  • Working and interacting effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Work Environment:
The College has both on-campus and online programs, with the option for some assignments to completed in a fully online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/office space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.

Terms of Employment/Salary:

This is a part-time, non-tenured, quarter-to-quarter assignment. Salary is dependent upon the number of contact hours for this assignment as provided in the agreement with the Shoreline College Federation of Teachers. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
