Position Title: Quality Engineer
Reports To: Quality Manager
Location: Phoenix
FLSA Status: Exempt
Direct Reports: None
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for assessing process capability, product performance and supporting product / process qualifications. The QE position facilitates new production introduction and contract reviews. This position also addresses and supports key account activities from quality assurance perspective.
The Quality Engineer (QE) position reports to the Quality Manager and works with all levels of employees throughout the organization. The QE collaborates as necessary to achieve quality assurance goals. This is a full-time individual contributor position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Measurement method efficiency and effectiveness
- Assess and interpret customer drawings and the associated part design features characteristics
- Interpret customer and industry specification requirements
- Evaluate/analyze parts using the appropriate inspection tools such as gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauge, optical comparators, etc.
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Monitor and evaluate manufacturing process outputs
- Review and approve inspection planning for production parts
- Prepare for and participate in external audits such as Nadcap, AS9100, Customer, DCMA and FAA
- Analyze all nonconformity data and conduct corrective actions addressing the root cause of issues
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will not direct the work of any other employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or equivalent (Other Engineering disciplines may be considered).
Experience Required: 5 -10 years’ experience as an Aerospace Quality or Mechanical Engineer supporting precision machining processes.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED
The knowledge, skills and abilities required and/or preferred for this position are listed below.
- Ability to read and interpret Aerospace Blueprints (GD&T knowledge is a plus)
- Proficient in Root Cause Corrective Action concepts and tools
- Experience with statistical tools such as Cp/Cpk, Pp/PpK, ANOVA and GR&R is a plus
- Product and process qualification
