The Drive & Rotor Manager oversees all maintenance and manufacturing activities related to drive systems, rotor systems, and rotor control components. This position ensures the effective execution of shop operations in alignment with Columbia Helicopters’ mission, vision, and core values.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide leadership and management to all shop personnel, fostering a positive, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Establish and manage the annual operational budget, including staffing levels and capital expenditure planning, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Develop employee skills through effective on-the-job training and coordination with the Training Department to identify and fulfill development needs.
  • Ensure production goals are achieved with a strong focus on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with department directors, program managers, and production control to determine internal and external work requirements, production schedules, and priorities (both short- and long-term).
  • Review work orders regularly to ensure accuracy in documentation, time accounting, and material usage, and verify compliance with applicable data and work instructions.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean principles to identify and eliminate waste, improve quality and safety, shorten lead times, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained, operable, and properly accounted for; maintain clean, organized, and FOD-free work areas.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations, recommend promotions and salary actions, and participate in hiring and workforce planning.
  • Provide leadership in resolving employee relations issues and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or management education preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with an emphasis on component overhaul.
  • Experience with Columbia Model 107, Model 234, or similar military aircraft preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience with proven leadership, training, and coaching skills.
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft components, maintenance, and manufacturing processes.
  • FAA certification under FAR Part 65 required; eligibility for maintenance release and inspection authorization preferred.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license required.
  • Thorough understanding of repair station procedures, quality management systems, MRO/manufacturing operations, and applicable FAA regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
