IRCA is a leading international provider of semi-finished ingredients for the bakery, pastry and gelato markets, serving independent producers as well as large food manufacturers (e.g. CPG). Core products include chocolate, chocolate decorations, creams, pastry mixes, gelato ingredients, and other bakery / pastry ingredients. 

The Company, headquartered in Italy, was acquired by Advent International, the global Private Equity firm, in July 2022, and has a strong track record of growth over the last decade. IRCA has made 2 bolt-on acquisitions in the areas of candied fruits (Cesarin) and pistachio ingredients (Anastasi) in 2022, and recently entered exclusive negotiations to acquire a leading manufacturer of sweet and cereal products in Europe and the US. The target’s business focuses on high value add specialty ingredients for the Food Manufacturers segment, with a portfolio that incorporates a range of products including sweet particulates, chocolate confections, baked inclusions, variegates and fruit purées. 

This transformative deal would create a global leader in the semi-finished ingredients industry, with 22 manufacturing facilities in Europe, US and Vietnam and a combined €1 billion of revenues (2022).

Position Summary
The EHS Supervisor will be responsible for implementing, coordinating, and monitoring the facility's Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure the well-being of all employees, compliance with rigorous food manufacturing standards, and adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, etc.). This role is a vital link between management and the production floor employees, fostering a proactive, safety-first culture within a fast-paced food processing environment.

Annual Salary Base Range of  $85K-$110K for Employees Located in Illinois.
The “base salary range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The range provided is for Illinois employees as Irca group is required by Illinois State Law to post pay rates. Irca group reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography. Irca group conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time.


Essential Key Responsibilities
  • Safety & Health:
  • Inspections & Audits: Conduct regular plant inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards (e.g., machine guarding, ergonomics, chemical exposures, walking surfaces) and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.

  • Incident Management: Lead or participate in incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, perform root cause analyses, and track corrective and preventive actions to reduce injury and illness rates.

  • Training: Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs for all employees (including new hires and contractors) on topics such as proper lifting techniques, equipment safety, hazardous communication (HAZCOM), and emergency response plans.

  • Risk Assessment: Facilitate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments to identify critical hazards and implement controls to mitigate them.

  • Worker's Compensation: Partner with the Human Resources department to manage the worker's compensation program, including injury reporting, documentation, and the employee return-to-work (RTW) process.

  • Environmental & Compliance:
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure the facility is in compliance with all applicable governmental guidelines, including OSHA, EPA, and relevant food industry standards (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GMP, FDA).

  • Environmental Programs: Support requirements pertaining to air permits, storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC), and hazardous waste disposal.

  • Sustainability Initiatives: Lead or assist in projects aimed at waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, and overall sustainability efforts.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate EHS records, logs (e.g., OSHA 300 logs), and documentation, and prepare and submit required reports to management and regulatory agencies.


  • Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related scientific field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of EHS experience in a high-volume manufacturing or industrial environment, with a strong preference for experience within the food manufacturing/processing industry.

  • Knowledge: Applied, working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations is required; familiarity with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GMP) is a significant plus.

  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making for sustainable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train staff and influence a positive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with EHS management software is preferred.
  • Effectively and consistently meets deadline to deliver results.
  • Adaptable and resourceful in overcoming challenges and finding practical solutions to roadblocks.
