Falmouth Elementary School is seeking a highly motivated individual to support our elementary learners as a full-time, PreK-5 building-based substitute.
General Statement of Duties
The primary responsibility of the Elementary Building-Based Substitute is to provide coverage for classroom teachers, educational technicians, and other staff during absences. The substitute is expected to follow lesson plans, maintain student safety and supervision, and support the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Flexibility is essential, as daily assignments may vary depending on building needs.
Supervision
The Building-Based Substitute is responsible to the building administrator.
The Building-Based Substitute will:
Provide classroom instruction and/or support by following lesson plans left by teachers or guidance from administrators.
Supervise students in a variety of school settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, arrival, and dismissal, ensuring student safety at all times.
Maintain consistency with school-wide expectations.
Adapt to changing assignments and schedules as needed, including covering different grade levels or roles throughout the school day.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, educational technicians, and administrators to ensure smooth transitions for students during staff absences.
Manage classroom routines (including PUP) and student behavior effectively, using positive and respectful strategies aligned with school expectations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the administrator, which may include:
Engage in professional development when appropriate to build capacity in instructional and classroom management practices.
Built in 2010, Falmouth Elementary School (approximately 900 students PreK-5) is housed in a state-of-the-art building located on our 100 acre district PreK-12 campus. Our campus features extensive fields, trails, gardens and hoop house, and opportunities for collaboration between schools. Student achievement is exemplary and the community takes great pride in all academic, co-curricular, and athletic accomplishments.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for the Maine Education Technician Level III authorization through the Maine Department of Education, as well as an approved district run background check.
Additional:
Pay will be based on relevant experience and DOE certification. Ed Tech III pay rate range is $24.54 - $30.85/hr. A generous benefits package includes the following:
