Job Summary:


The Assistant Vice President, WMG Operations - Ambulatory Division provides leadership to and management of the ambulatory physician practices of his/her assigned region. This role reports directly to the SVP Primary Care Division.
The individual in this role will have oversight of daily practice operations. He/she will implement plans and processes communicated by WellStar Medical Group leadership at current and future integrated practices in his/her region. This individual ensures operational efficiencies and quality service through monitoring of practice performance. He/she will partner to develop and implement action plans for efficient operations.
The AVP monitors systems, processes and procedures to continuously improve the services, efficiency and outcomes of the practices within the Division. He/she works closely with accounting, WellStar Medical Group resources and other operational leaders to ensure appropriate information is available to make sound operational decisions.
This individual will partner to ensure high quality, safe clinical care is provided to the patients of the practices. This leader will routinely monitor patient feedback and quality metric results. The AVP WMG Operations is expected to bring consistency to practices to ensure compliance with WellStar practices and adherence to regulatory, licensing, and reimbursement guidelines.
This individual maintains strong positive relationships with employees, physicians, advanced practitioners, patients and the public. He/she participates as an active and supportive part of the WellStar Medical Group Leadership team where success is illustrated through practice growth, improved patient access, financial performance, and positive patient experience. He/she will also participate in WMG and System committees and initiatives as appropriate or requested by WMG leadership. As a key member of the leadership team, the AVP is key to continued success as WellStar enhances services and improves the patient experience, particularly addressing challenges that face the system's market and community.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Practice Operations
* Creates focus on clinical quality and escalates key concerns and recovery opportunities immediately
* Drives long- and short-term goals and operational plans including program evaluation
* Improves consistency of clinical services and operations practices across multiple provider locations
* Supervises and advises the Practice Managers/Directors of all practices in designated region or specialty
* Maintains knowledge of medical practice environment both locally and nationally to identify opportunities and threats; communicates internally as
appropriate and incorporates into planning process
* Acts as a liaison between physicians and WellStar Administration
* Guides resource management to achieve practice business goals
* Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and proficiency of the EMR and data reporting available to meet practice needs and monitor progress
* Monitors safety and quality metrics to support clinical excellence
Patient Experience
*Drives focus on clinical excellence in partnership with VP Medical Director and other clinical leaders
*Reviews and continuously monitors patient experience scores and process improvement efforts
*Facilitates improved patient satisfaction scores through services enhancements and coaching
*Ensure transition of care from practice setting to acute care or after-care is consistent and meets clinical and patient experience expectations
Growth/Expansion of Service Lines
*Implementation of Vascular System Plan in partnership with Service Line Vice President and Chief Vascular Physician
*Growth of cardiac services to North Fulton Hospital and service area
*Structure Heart and Valve Program growth and expansion
Financial Resource Management
*Responsible for the financial viability of the designated practices, including but not limited to:
**Planning and developing operating budgets for each practice
**Monitoring progress against budget and developing appropriate plans to achieve planned results
**Planning and implementing capital expenditures
*Oversees accounting and financial control systems, accounts receivables and budgets
*Utilizes financial and operational principles in daily and long-term practice operations
*Directs practice operations to assure financial viability of services
Compliance and Risk Management
*Supports and applies a working knowledge of WellStar Health Systems Standard and Department Policies and Procedures
*Supports clinical and office staff in upholding clinical quality in the practice
*Monitors compliance with WellStar policies and adherence to regulatory, licensing, and reimbursement guidelines
Trust/Engagement (Mandatory Content)
*Builds a culture of trust and engagement as reflected in the Great Place to Work Trust Index Survey at a direct report, workgroup and hospital/entity level.
*Holds leaders accountable for behaviors that create trust and engagement.

*Maintains and strengthens relationships with physicians and assures their involvement in developing systems to assure the growth of the service and the cost effective delivery of quality patient care in a manner that fosters patient and employee satisfaction

Required Minimum Education:


Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field
completed within six months.


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

    Additional License(s) and Certification(s):


    Required Minimum Experience:


    Minimum 8 years in a leadership role of a medical group, hospital or healthcare organization required Required and
    Minimum 4 years in an ambulatory or primary care operations leadership position required. Required and
    Proven success in impacting and improving patient experience. Required and
    Demonstrated knowledge of guiding clinical practice Required and
    bringing consistency and process alignment Required and
    Strong preference for experience in large electronic medical records system (EMR) with specific experience EPIC preferred Preferred and
    Minimum 2 years of experience in a multiple-practice structure that includes integrated delivery specialties. Preferred


    Required Minimum Skills:


    Highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills; regulatory, reimbursement, financial analysis and business planning skills.
    Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
    Knowledge and command of the principles of financial analysis, planning, operations, human resources and information systems
    Ability to collect, analyze and apply data and other pertinent information to develop short and long term practice goals and budget needs.
    Ability to work independently and to motivate and develop staff and leaders.
    Work closely with physicians, other providers and WellStar Medical Group leaders to establish and meet
    short and long term strategic practice goals.
    Proactively searches for and recommends opportunities to enhance practice services and revenue
    Consistently demonstrates excellent leadership and customer service skills.
