Verily Sightline is revolutionizing public health surveillance by integrating advanced wastewater testing with a dynamic analytics platform. This platform combines environmental signals, clinical data, social determinants of health (SDOH), and real-time behavioral indicators to provide timely, actionable information on community-level disease threats. Our mission is to transform reactive responses into proactive interventions, serving public health agencies, health systems, payers, and life science organizations.

Verily Sightline is seeking a talented and motivated Intermediate Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our growing team. You will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our integrated data and analytics platform, contributing to both front-end and back-end functionalities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a product with significant public health impact, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and diverse data streams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutions for the Verily Sightline platform.

  • Implement and optimize back-end services using Python, focusing on data ingestion, processing, and API development within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.

  • Develop interactive and user-friendly front-end interfaces using React, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience for our diverse stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical specifications and deliver high-quality features.

  • Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, design, coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help drive best practices within the team and troubleshoot and debug issues across the full stack, identifying and implementing effective solutions.

Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in software development.

  • Proficiency in Python for back-end development and experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) servies (e.g., Cloud Functions, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, App Engine) as well as strong front-end development skills with React and its ecosystem (e.g., Redux, Material-UI).

  • Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, RESTful API design and development and/or gRPC architecture.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

  • Experience with data visualization libraries and tools (e.g., D3.js, Tableau, Looker) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Understanding of data modeling principles, especially for integrating diverse datasets (e.g., EHR, claims, SDOH, environmental data).

  • Interest in public health, healthcare, or life sciences domains.

  • Prior experience working with geospatial information systems (GIS) for data visualization and analysis.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000 - $178,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
