The Project Accountant performs the overall job accounting functions and acts as Accounting’s liaison between Clune Project Management and external parties to ensure the timely and accurate completion of Clune projects. This individual also ensures that Project Accounting practices are in line with accounting and industry standards, contractual obligations, and federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions:
• Manage the overall job accounting function from the beginning to end of a project including setup, maintenance, coding, and auditing of job billings.
• Work closely with project managers, vendors/subs, and other parties to ensure timely and accurate process of job accounting functions.
• Communicate with external clients to help manage timely job funding, subcontractor payments, and ensure timely responses to job inquiries.
• Track, manage, and report on receivables to assist with AR payment applications and weekly cash flow forecasts for assigned jobs.
• Perform general job accounting administration and monthly financial closing tasks to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing requirements and deadlines.
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
• Work closely with all levels of the organization to provide project accounting support and to assist with accounting and tax audits.

Job Requirements:
• Applied accounting experience in a construction job environment including knowledge of accounting
• Internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Project Accounting
• Understanding of AIA forms, legal forms, schedules, and accounting requirements specific to the construction industry.
• Self-motivated, independently able to solve problems and meet deadlines
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of 2-3 years education and experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry
• Experience with electronic vendor invoice workflows and electronic filing systems preferred
• Experience in CMiC or other ERP systems preferred
