Title Benefits Manager
Location: Hybrid – Office Days (Monday & Wednesday), Remote (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

Job Summary
TURN is seeking a dynamic and experienced Benefits Manager to lead and manage key HR functions including Leave of Absences & Accommodations, Benefits Administration, Workers Compensation, and Benefits Billing. This role will also serve as a backup for Employee Relations and be a strategic partner in HR operations. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in ADP Workforce Now, especially the Benefits Module, and bring deep expertise in California and federal employment laws.
Responsibilities
Leave of Absences & Accommodations
- Administer and track all types of leaves (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, etc.) ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Serve as primary contact for employees and managers regarding leave policies and accommodation requests.
- Partner with managers to support performance management during leave and return-to-work transitions, while advising on appropriate job accommodations that align with ADA requirements and organizational policies.
- Research, analyzes data, and prepares reports as required on HR trends, applicable laws and regulations, new HR project suggestions, and current program goals and progress.
Benefits Administration
- Manage day-to-day benefits operations including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Lead annual open enrollment process in collaboration with the Sr. HR Manager.
- Maintain and update employee records in ADP Workforce Now Benefits Module.
Workers Compensation
- Oversee all workers compensation claims and reporting.
- Liaise with insurance carriers, medical providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and compliance with OSHA and state requirements.
Billing & Compliance
- Reconcile benefits invoices and ensure accurate billing across plans.
- Monitor compliance with HIPAA, ACA, ERISA, and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare reports and analytics on benefits utilization, trends, and costs.
Employee Relations Support
- Serve as backup for Employee Relations matters including investigations, coaching, and documentation.
- Provide guidance to managers on HR policies and employee concerns.
HRIS & Process Improvement
- Leverage ADP Workforce Now to streamline workflows and improve data integrity.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance HR service delivery.
- Support HR projects and change management initiatives.
- Coordinate training on various HR programs and issues; assisting Sr. HR Manager.
- Assists as necessary in HR related duties and projects. Fills in for absent HR team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits, absence and leave administration, workers compensation, and employee relations.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now, especially the Benefits Module.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead projects independently.
- Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Complies with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPPA standards.
- Experience in a non-profit or healthcare environment is highly desirable.
