Key Responsibilities:

The President is directly responsible for United Ground Express (UGE), a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines including oversight of corporate infrastructure, operational strategies, and financial governance. UGE currently has over 7000 employees and operates in over 60 locations across the United States. UGE delivers top-tier ground handling services including station operations, ramp services, customer service, baggage handling, passenger assistance, cabin cleaning, fueling and cargo for United and other airlines.

 

In your role as President, you will provide leadership and direction to UGE senior leadership as well as have directional oversight in the following areas:

 

Hub Services

  • Support overall success of the passenger assistance, cabin cleaning and fueling teams at airport locations while delivering United’s flyer friendly service to our customers.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance standards established by United Ground Express, United Airlines, and any regulatory authorities.

Line Operations

  • Station operational safety & security, performance standards & goals, vendor relations, contracts, as well as acting as liaison for government & regulatory interface.
  • Serving as the liaison for government and regulatory interface.

Labor Relations

  • Responsible for contract negotiations with IAM.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with union leaders.
  • Consult UGE service level agreements to provide direction on grievances, investigations, and discipline.

Finance

  • Provide strategic direction to the finance team in developing and executing departmental financial strategies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to support informed decision-making and reliable external financial guidance.
  • Support UGE finance leadership through detailed financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making and labor negotiations, driving optimization of the company’s financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures established by UGE and corporate governance authorities.
  • Oversee procurement of new and existing contracts and awards for UGE.

Human Resources and Talent Management

  • Ensure equitable, compliant and consistent practices in all areas of Human Resource and Talent Management.
    • HR policies and procedures, performance management, employee relations & field support, recognition programs, ethics & compliance, affirmative action plans.
    • Compensation, benefits, management & administrative recruiting, front line recruiting, talent strategies, leadership development, employee engagement.

 

 

What’s needed to succeed:

 

Minimum Qualifications -

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of relative professional experience
  • 7+ years in a managerial role
  • 8+ years Operational Experience with major or regional air carrier, or ground handler
  • Financial Acumen
  • Interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong leadership skills including solid communication, visionary mindset, and ability to motivate and lead others
