JOB SUMMARY:
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) – Billing Specialist is responsible for supporting the Billing Department by accurately posting payments, assisting with billing-related inquiries, and maintaining patient account accuracy. This position ensures timely and precise processing of payments while providing excellent customer service to patients and internal staff.
Qualifications

Post insurance and patient payments accurately into the billing system on a daily basis.

Reconcile payments to Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), electronic remittance advice, and other payment documentation.

Review accounts for payment posting errors or discrepancies and make necessary corrections.

Assist with patient billing questions and provide courteous, accurate information.

Support the Billing Manager and team members with daily billing and posting tasks.

Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards.

Assist in identifying and reporting trends or issues in payment posting.

Perform general administrative and customer service duties as needed, including answering phones and responding to inquiries.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely resolution of billing and payment issues.

Participate in training and continuous improvement efforts within the billing department.
Qualifications
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or billing coursework preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in billing, payment posting, or customer service in a healthcare setting preferred.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) or billing systems.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office setting within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets are used regularly.
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
