Educational Effectiveness Specialist

Position Description 
The Educational Effectiveness Specialist works within the Office of Educational Effectiveness to foster a culture that combines assessment, accessibility, inclusive learning, and data-driven continuous improvement strategies. The Educational Effectiveness Specialist will support a data-informed, inclusive learning environment by coordinating and reporting on academic institutional research (e.g., PLO assessments, surveys, focus groups), identifying strengths and areas of improvement related to student learning and experience. The Educational Effectiveness Specialist will provide consultation and training for faculty and staff in various curricular-related areas to improve Biola’s educational effectiveness.

The person who fills this position must be someone who personally agrees with Biola’s Articles of Faith and who is supportive of the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Statement of Biblical Principles and Eschatology Teaching Position. As such, this person may not speak against or act in a manner inconsistent with these positions during the course of their employment at Biola.

Supervisor 
This position reports to the Director of Educational Effectiveness. 

Educational Requirements 
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred 

Work Requirements 
● Non-exempt (02), full-time – 40 hours/week, 12 months per year 
● This position requires personal attendance at Biola’s campus in La Mirada, California, but will consider a hybrid/flexible work arrangement 

Essential Duties 
● Administer large institutional surveys to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on survey data and create reports for institutional and department planning 
● Coordinate the Annual PLO Assessment Report (APLOAR) process, including sending reminders, tracking submissions, and cleaning data for the Annual PLO Assessment Report dashboard update 
● Coordinate the APLOAR evaluation process for the Educational Effectiveness Committee (EEC), and prepare EEC evaluation reports for Deans and academic departments 
● Support the Faculty Assessment Fellows program (e.g., purchase materials and books, create binders, print out handouts, coordinate meetings, room reservations, and catering, process contracts and stipends, track submissions and attendance, and communicate status to the Director of Educational Effectiveness). 
● Serve on university committees and cross-departmental teams (e.g., Educational Effectiveness Committee, Academic Accessibility Team, etc.) 
● Manage the OEE assessment, outcomes, and survey webpages 
● Support the Annual Academic Program Review process (e.g., create folders, update documents, coordinate meetings, room reservations, and catering, process contracts and stipends, track submissions, and communicate status to the Director of Educational Effectiveness). 
● Support the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process 
● Act as the department Formstack manager 
● Act as Accessibility Point Person for the Office of Educational Effectiveness 

Required Skills/Qualifications 
● Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred 
● Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research, assessment, survey design, data analysis, and/or statistical reporting 
● Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with administrators, faculty, and staff 
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects to meet concurrent deadlines individually and in team settings 
● Curiosity in the research and practices of higher education systems and change management 
● Ability to recover from mistakes, learn, and improve 
● Strong written and oral presentation skills 
● Computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Pro, Google Suite 
● Ability to use quantitative and qualitative analysis software (e.g., JASP, SPSS, NVivo) 
● Ability to create compelling data visualizations, familiarity with TableauPrep is a plus 

Hiring Range: $30.00 - 34.00 per hour
