Position Overview

The Product Engineer plays a vital role in the detailed design, development, and continuous improvement of bulk packaging products across the diverse industries served by Gravis. This position is an integral part of both the Engineering and Supply Chain teams, collaborating closely with sourcing, pricing, and purchasing functions. The Product Engineer is responsible for managing technical specifications, quality assurance, and product testing for current product lines while also supporting the development of innovative new solutions.

Working alongside other engineers, the Product Engineer ensures that all product designs are effectively maintained, optimized for efficiency, and aligned with evolving customer needs and industry standards.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to design and develop customized packaging solutions.
  • Coordinate and conduct product testing using in-house and third-party laboratories, interpreting results and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of evolving industry standards, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and perform on-site prototype testing and validation of new products.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with established timelines and deliverables.
  • Maintain and update product specifications and documentation to reflect design changes or new developments.
  • Identify market and industry trends and collaborate with the engineering team to conceptualize and develop innovative product solutions.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong data analysis and systems skills, including proficiency in integrated software applications (NetSuite preferred).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Highly self-motivated, organized, and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Packaging, Industrial, Textile Engineering, or related field).
  • Experience of 3-5 years in the Packaging industry required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
  • Ability to lift and package product samples for shipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

Need to Add Travel:

  • 30% travel (Domestic)
