Description
This is a full-time direct service position and requires daily travel to provide services for three Madison Area Residential Houses. Group intervention programming must be delivered in a secular manner free of religious components, following the agency prescribed curriculum. The person in this position will be responsible for Intake Coordination duties for clients entering the Madison Area Residential Services Programs. These duties will require a high level of communication and cooperation with the RSP Case Managers and Department of Corrections (DOC) Probation & Parole Agents and Liaison Agents, and prospective RSP clients.
The person in this position is responsible for providing group Cognitive Skills interventions (Thinking for a Change and/or Carey Guides groups), Moral Recognition Therapy groups, and/or group role-plays and job search activities associated with the Employment group to adult correctional clients who are enrolled in the ACS Residential Services Program. This person will collaborate with the Treatment Team regarding client participation in groups.
The person in this position provides Behavioral Support services as needed, maintaining safety in the facility, making security rounds when required, and interacting with clients on an informal basis throughout the house while maintain therapeutic boundaries and professional ethics.
The Intake Coordinator/Group Facilitator screens and responds to DOC referrals for RSP services, coordinates placements, and corresponds with all parties regarding RSP services, eligibility, and availability. The Intake Coordinator/Group Facilitator develops, maintains, and updates client files in the SecurManage system, writes daily progress notes, generates required reports, and develops discharge summaries related to the group services delivered. The person in this position is responsible for maintaining all professional credentials.
- Daily travel between office and Madison residential facilities
- Facilitate treatment groups utilizing the prescribed curricula. This will include group Cognitive Skills interventions (Thinking for a Change and/or Carey Guides), Moral recognition Therapy groups, or group role-plays and job search activities associated with the Employment group.
- Evaluate client participation and document their treatment progress in their electronic chart using Progress Notes and complete discharge/termination summaries in a timely manner consistent with DHS standards.
- provide direct support and treatment services to clients so they can achieve their overall Case Plan goals, participate in a risk-level-appropriate amount of treatment, and improve general pro-social functioning
- Implement motivational interviewing techniques
- Introduce clients to problem-identification and -solving techniques
- Use cultural awareness and dexterity in delivering interventions
- Employ cognitive-behavioral treatment techniques responsive to anti-social behaviors and problems
- Deliver evidence-based treatment
- Recommend referrals to other community services/agencies as needed.
- Maintain communication with co-workers, supervisor, and DOC regarding client behaviors, treatment progress and incident reports.
- Maintain client files and adhere to all laws, policies, and rules regarding confidentiality.
Intake Coordination
- Screen and respond to DOC referrals for RSP services, coordinate placements, and correspond with all parties regarding RSP services, eligibility, and availability.
- Communicate and cooperate with the RSP Case Managers and Department of Corrections (DOC) Probation & Parole Agents and prospective RSP clients.
- Update bed lists
- Send bed lists to DOC Agents and Supervisors weekly
- Receive and process referral packets
- Record Keeping
Other Duties
- Assume Behavioral Support duties at the front desk and throughout the house as needed.
- Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor
- Maintain valid driver’s license, good driving record and proof of insurance in order to use agency vehicle as form of transportation to other agency locations as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED LICENSE & TRAINING
- Training, licensure, and supervision are necessary for the T4C curriculum specifications per the Department of Corrections.
- Staff qualifications for Program Site Managers, Program Facilitators and Lead Facilitators.
- Have a minimum of an Associate’s degree or greater in a Human Service/Criminal Justice field.
- Certified training in group facilitation techniques.
- Certified training in T4C curriculum (must possess the proper certification for the locations services will be provided).
- Attend DOC training in the approved site specific –Cognitive Behavioral Based Program- Thinking for a Change for Domestic Violence Group Services curriculum.
Education & Work Experience
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- 2 years’ experience in group facilitation of cognitive based programing of correctional clients.
- 2 years’ experience working with correctional clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience working in a correctional residential or treatment center.
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record, ability to use personal vehicle for daily travel (mileage reimbursement included.)
- Training in Thinking for a Change curriculum or other Cognitive Interventions Programming preferred
- Knowledge of “Thinking for a Change” curriculum and group dynamics.
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Office, email, and internet.
- Interact with employees, clients and agents in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information.
