The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization whose mission is to cure Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and improve the quality of life for the children and adults affected by these diseases. Our work is dramatically accelerating the research process through our varied research initiatives; we also provide extensive educational and support resources for patients and their families, medical professionals, and the public. In addition, we lead federal and state-based advocacy campaigns to support medical research funding and improve patient access to care. Position Summary

The Project Manager will play a foundational role in the creation of the Foundation’s inaugural Project Management Office (PMO). This individual will lead and manage several concurrent cross department or enterprise-wide projects focused on strategic growth, operational efficiency, and process improvement. They will also design and implement project management frameworks, tools, and training to improve organizational efficiency, alignment, and outcomes. 

The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager who has successfully worked within (or built) PMOs in mission-driven or nonprofit environments, and who is skilled at empowering teams through training, coaching, and collaborative process development. 

This role is hybrid: 2 days/week in the National Headquarters in New York City and 3 days/week remote.   

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex, cross-departmental projects from initiation through close-out, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget and alignment to organizational objectives;
  • Maintain oversight of project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and stakeholder communications;
  • Support the rollout of new initiatives and operational enhancements;
  • Assist in the development of dashboards, reporting tools, and data-drive insights to improve decision-making;
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve overall efficiency;
  • Partner with departments to support the development and implementation of project tracking, reporting, and accountability framework;
  • Design and deliver staff training on project management principles, tools, and best practices tailored to nonprofit environments;
  • Mentor staff to strengthen project planning, execution, and documentation skills;
  • Foster a culture of monitoring, evaluation, learning, and collaboration across teams;
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in project management and nonprofit operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business administration, nonprofit management, public health, or related field;
  • 3+ years of experience in project management;
  • Proven success implementing project management systems, standards, and tools across multiple teams;
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management skills, meeting deadlines, and attention to detail;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team building experience;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and project management tools (e.g., Workday, Asana, Microsoft Project);
  • Preferred PMP or other relevant project management certification;
  • Preferred experience with staff training on project management and tools/framework identification.
