The Vice President of HR (VP of HR) provides executive leadership for the people strategy at Monte Christo Communities, an RV and mobile home property management company with operations in California, Oregon, and Washington. The VP of HR is responsible for shaping organizational culture, leading talent management, ensuring compliance, and aligning HR practices with business goals. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team, this leader models the company’s values, drives workforce engagement, oversees all elements of the “employee life cycle”, and ensures the organization is positioned for growth through effective human capital strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Directly oversees HR staff and contractors, ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations.
· Provides strategic counsel to senior leaders on talent, organizational development, and workforce planning.
· Partners with the CEO, Executive Team, and Office of the CEO Staff to align HR programs with business and operational needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that supports company goals and drives employee engagement.
· Lead workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning to ensure strong leadership pipelines.
· Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and retention programs to attract and retain top talent.
· Design and implement leadership development, coaching, and new leader training programs.
· Build and sustain a high-trust, inclusive workplace culture consistent with company values.
· Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations across multiple states.
· Lead performance management, total rewards, and employee relations programs.
· Partner with Finance to manage HR budgeting, compensation planning, and benefits administration.
· Serve as an advisor to executives and leaders on employee relations, conflict resolution, and organizational effectiveness.
· Champion employee recognition, engagement, and well-being initiatives.
· Lead HR systems, reporting, and analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
· Represent HR in executive leadership discussions and Investor updates, ensuring the people strategy is fully aligned with organizational strategy.
Requirements
Core Competencies and Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strategic HR Leadership: Ability to design and implement HR strategies that align with business growth and operational priorities.
· Organizational Development: Experience in building high-performing teams, leadership development, and workforce planning.
· Employee Engagement: Proven track record of driving “Great Place to Work”-style cultures with trust, respect, and inclusion.
· Operational Expertise: Skilled in budget management, vendor negotiations, and multi-state compliance.
· Coaching & Mentoring: Strong background in coaching leaders and developing talent pipelines.
· Project & Program Management: Ability to lead complex HR initiatives from design through implementation across multiple locations.
· Analytical Skills: Proficient in using data to diagnose organizational issues and shape solutions.
· Technology Proficiency: Hands-on experience with HR systems (e.g. Paylocity, Workday, SharePoint) and advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel “super user”).

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
· MBA/BA, Human Resources/similar field of study -or- 10+ equivalent years of experience.
· Coaching/Mentoring certifications -or- 10+ equivalent years of experience.
· Certification(s) in personality/behavioral assessment tools preferred.
· SHRM-SCP, HRCI SPHR, or equivalent certification preferred.
